But he could be great. He isn't even close to his ceiling yet.
- thundachunk

He could be but so far has just been very decent.

This team has been starved for high end talent for years so soon as someone decent arrives we jump all in. Bridge deals see how he is

I think you're taking that out of context, it was mentioned that they'd like Bo as a third line center on a Cup winning team, not pigeon-holeing him as a third line center.

Hell he's currently a first line center on a poop team.

Someone gotta talk some sense around here

Sone guys in here have unbelievable expectations. Its comical.

Just bcus theres Crosby/Malkin and McDavid/Leon 1/2 Centre combos in the league, doesn't mean that if your team doesn't have players of that quality that you designate something like Bo as #3C, its unrealistic.

- Brooks_Light

Bo is the only young proven top 6 in the organization and people are labeling him as a 3c for some (frank)ed up reason

Bo is a very decent player . The key word is decent not great.
- VANTEL

Decent players don't score 50 at the age of 22. Bo is very good player. Sure he isn't "great" I suppose but he is producing close to first line production

I said if you are looking to build a SC winning team, he's not your 1C and hopefully not your 2C either as you want a truly dynamic offensively minded playmaking center at 1C to drive your offense and a slightly less dynamically offensive minded center at 2C. Bo has always been most effective and got all his points when he wasn't called upon to be the sole option on offense for the Canucks. Again, I don't knock Bo, I love his game, but I see him topping out as a much better version of Kesler (with a better personality) which you need on your team to win, he's just not a 1C on a really good team that's contending for the Cup because by then you should have better options or you aren't going anywhere.

I said it too, he's the guy I want with 2 minutes left protecting the lead, or playing wing on the first line to take faceoffs and be the guy scoring the clutch goal to tie or win the game in the 3rd period.

Did I call him decent or very decent. Scoring 50 points on a crap team is not great . Scoring 80 on a crap team is great.

You are taking it too personally . He wasn't top 100 in points. We all like him here but we are not going gaga over him . He is the type of player that can be part of a winning team but few here see him leading the team to the top of the mountain

And most of his points were goals, because, like Kesler, he's a shoot-first center and not one who dishes the puck well. He's what he is, a 200-foot center who likes to carry the puck, take it to the net, or shoot it at the net and hope to hell someone has the hands to put in a rebound.

Yeah I know the context, but its fantasy. Every team has some great centermen, they might not have the support around them to excel, so team failure can't be blamed on the them alone nor should they be discredited.

Anaheim had Getsclaf and Kesler and came close last year. Nash with Forsberg and if they would've had Johanson it would've been a more interesting SCF for sure. Hell even Ottawa had Turris and Hoffman and came a goal away from the SCF. Having two elite Cs on one team is extremely rare, (theres arguably two teams) so you can't write off the Cs they have as 3rd liners.

If you're gonna plug in guys like Larkin, Barzel as top C's, then you have to included Koivu, Trochek, Benn, Miller, Lee, Schenn, Galchenyuk,Wennberg, Rask, Kutnetsov, Bo

I agree, Bo isnt #1, but he's not #3, if he was I think he'd demand a trade. Now if our prospects develop into their full potential, Pettersson, Bo and Gaudette become a 1-2-3 punch I think we're onto something.

Cool, I thought i miss read the stats when they said Bo had 53 points, 20 and 33... I'd assumed the 20 was goals, pretty sweet to know that he scored 33 goals as a 21 year old.... that's pretty much 1st line center numbers.

Let's just say 1st line is the top 30 players at their position and a 30 goal center would me top 30. Or is a 33 goal center an elite 4lc?

Also 33 goals...

So how are guys like Turris, Hoffman, Johanson, Forsberg who outscored Bo by a few points capable of almost winning a cup?? They're no different. If its all about the team, why don't you wait until Bo actually has a FULL team around him, see what he/they can do, then label him. Bcus I think i'm missing the logic here? Or maybe there isn't any....

I think he'd be happy with a 2A/2B situation where he shares similar TOI to another 2C, which in my view would be ideal anyways. Again, I don't knock him, he's definitely our next captain. If I'm building a team with the eventual expectation of winning the Cup, I'm probably trying to draft or find someone better than him to center my top 6 and maybe like Kesler, have him play wing in my top 6 (which I'm sure he'd be fine with too) if I need a boost on offense. You need depth at center to win in the playoffs, these last two playoffs have shown that, both Crosby and Malkin at times were pointless for a series or two and Bonino helped to pick up the slack until they could get going again.

How many of those assists were rebound goals off of his shots? Didn't we blast Kesler for years before he was traded because he was our 2C and he wouldn't use his linemates effectively and carried the puck and tried to do it all himself? Didn't we wish we could find some sort of playmaking winger that could set him up so that he could get back to his 40 goal form in 2011? How many points did he get after the ASG? He had a HUGE slump from February on mirroring the team's fall to 2nd worst in the league. That's not a 1st line center.
