Hes a D and made 4.5M last year. To top it off the Avs bought him out.

I would rather see Pedan get a shot, but if it is a one year contract with the intention of possible moving him at tdl... maybe. but there might be more attractive options out there just for that.

Seems battles come down to 1 scoring slot in top 9, the whole 4th line & extra.

http://theprovince.com/sp...o-crank-up-roster-battles

Top 9 wing battle: Rodin, BB, Goldoblin, JV, Boucher, Dahlen, Molino, Palmu.

4LC battle: Burmistrov, Chaput, Gaunce, MacEwen.

Remainder of above fight for last 3 forward spots along with: DD, Labate & Megna. Green's choices for who stays are: go with speed, scoring; or grit and energy. After that decision he sends 10 forwards to Comets.

For D it's simple: OJ earns 9 game look. Holm sent to Comets to adjust and wait. One of Wiercoch, Pedan or Biega spared waivers as 8th D.

My early pre-camp favorites to earn a spot in the battles are: BB, Burmistrov, Rodin, JV, Boucher & Wiercoch. (OJ earns his 9 game show me)

Hearing Nolan Patrick was held out due to having a boil from his face removed is the best/worst thing i have ever heard

At this point they've brought enough guys in so that a prospect isn't gifted a spot out of necessity. If they keep bringing guys in you'd think they were actually trying to be competitive. But that's ridiculous.

His two way game has been non-existent why he's still a prospect and not a regular in the NHL. But he showed some deft cross ice passes and vision in the few games he got. Which for this offensively challenged team puts him in playmaker territory. Problem was he was the better finisher with who he played with and so it didn't come to light as much.

We need the puck retrieval & he is not it. Cannot hide him on a line for offence til he is more relable & less dependent on linemates to do the heavy lifting. His best opportunity lies in being a call up. I'm certain unless he has really improved. Nope

Goldy is the worst nickname. It should be added to the list of banished words.

Asset management - Goldy - Tanbir - Botchford

Pretty much what I am saying. See top of page post breakdown for camp battles. But you now recognize Goldy's got playmaking acumen as well.

Bringing in Gagner and Rodin back has put a hill in front of Goldy for camp. One that BB is also climbing but seems more in shape to traverse now. Not to mention Dahlen will also be in their nipping for that spot and role even from the AHL too.

Joe Thornton has had 11- 20 goal seasons. Hasn't reached that number in 6 seasons now.

I could see them signing a vet for a PTO.
Like Skille last year.
If they outplay the kids, they outplay the kids.
The more competition the better imo...as long as it ain't costing anything but FA's $.

i'd be ok with Beauchemon on a PTO, our defense aint exactly deep.
Forward depth is a different story.
If i had a gun to my head and had to choose a UFA in a simliar age situation for a PTO, i'd probably go Doan.

Nothing to lose, no risk involved.
If they make it you sign em up. If a Pedan or JV is lighting it up in the AHL, sit the seniors down and let em 'coach' form the pressbox.

Okay. Not following what that has to do with roster camp battles. Want to go to my post near top of page and circle back for comment?
