Wow Tatar got 4 years at 5.3 AAV.

Less PPG then Johnson and Palat.

Legit over payment.

- manvanfan

Well Detroit is not exactly a place that draws UFA's nor trending well.
They have to hold on to who they have and pay a lil premium to do so.
They r in for dark times for a few years at least prolly worse off than us.

The ones he picked prior to the year's draft or just this year?

Demko is probably the closest thing to a slam dunk so far but goalies are voodoo and we won't know for another 5 years. I know someone will bring up Boeser but I need to see more before I label him the top line talent that some project him as.

Virtanen, McCann, Tryamkin, Forsling, Demko all were considered great picks and now we have a fatty, a entitled ass, a baby, and nothing.

ON top of everything else the Wings cap is a mess.
Frans Nielsen is old & is an anchor contract.
The prospect pool is weak IMO.
Could they be huge sellers at the TDL & move Zetterberg & go full rebuild?
Is the new arena make them hold off & hope it can help them somehow turn it around & be entertaining? I don't think so. Bleak times in hockeytown.

They treaded water with players for so long. Cap hell last season. Cap hell again this season.

Darren Helm at 3.8 was terrible. I don't think they have handed out a half decent contract in 5 years.

It seems the hole gets deeper without any sunshine in the forecast.
Cannot see them being better than 29th overall

Worries me a bit that Horvat is going to get more then that. I don't think he's worth 6 million a season. Not yet at least. Maybe 8 years at 6 AAV. Not at 5 years though.

Goldy shown no signs of being a playmaker & every reason he needs to learn what 2-way hockey is all about. Until he is good for 25 goals a year he will be in & out of the line-up while other prospects take away his ice time.

This is from my twin, my bro, moms favourite and I can see why. He's nailed it, and really knows how to throw shade, he's the the best of the pump and dumpers.

1st off a disclaimer

Too much sun or the summer silly season is upon me in spades......

If for one moment EK saying the Nux r in on Beauchemin is true.
God that killed a few brain cells alone.....
That portends to another D getting a new address.
Smells like Tanev or Hutton r the candidates.
That could stir us up & the curiosity is tantalizing.

His two way game has been non-existent why he's still a prospect and not a regular in the NHL. But he showed some deft cross ice passes and vision in the few games he got. Which for this offensively challenged team puts him in playmaker territory. Problem was he was the better finisher with who he played with and so it didn't come to light as much.

It seems as if Green is going to have the same very long leash that JB and Co. have. I don't mind letting him grow with the team. As long as the players make strides. Nobody expects this team to win still.
- manvanfan

I'm just being sarcastic I want to see what Green can do with this team too. I wasn't down on WD like some around here but it was time for a fresh face. Green would not have been my first choice but I'm willing to see his progress unfold.

I think the team itself should be better than last year but goaltending will keep us bottom 5.
- golfingsince

And lack of scoring. I'm looking forward to some fresh faces, but let's not kid ourselves.

Goldy is the worst nickname. It should be added to the list of banished words.

If we can get him cheap why not...plant him on the 4th line let him do his thing. He's not injury-prone and can help the kids. He's usually good for 25-35 pts.
- LordHumungous

Hes a D and made 4.5M last year. To top it off the Avs bought him out.
