His contract can still slide if doesn't play 9 games (unless its playoffs)
- YuenglingJagr

So he could start season in the A for nine then go to juniors?

I looked through it last night. The rankings are probably true, but the article itself is pretty weak. I get it, it is just an overview, but it left a lot to be desired.

That said, I think he was right about the Flyers. Everything improved. Depth at all positions, prospect development, high end talent at important positions.

Hextall is picking players that even if they dont make it as NHLers, are at least progressing better than you might expect for a player drafted (in that respective round)

- YuenglingJagr

It was a pretty weak article.

Taylor Leier? Anthony Stolarz? No disrespect to those players, but those two aren't keystone prospects that would make the Flyers #1.

So here is my list of what I think our forwards are capable of scoring:

Jake – 65-70
G – 63 - 68
Simmonds – 57 - 62
Couts – 40 – 45 (assumes pp time)/ 32-38 w/out
Konecny – 38-43 (assumes he’ll be in the top 9 regularly, with consistent pp time)
Flip – 35 – 40
Weal – 30 - 35
Patrick – 25 – 30
Raffl – 15-20
Lehtera – 25 – 30
Weise – if not traded -14-19
Read – If not traded; 13 - 17
Lindblom – 65 – 70 GP
Laughton – 60 - 65 GP
Vecchione – Sent to AHL
Leier – Sent to AHL

Now, before anyone jumps down my throat, I know they all won't reach their point total. To me it's what they are capable of scoring. Some players will be asked to compete in different roles than I may be assuming.

There's a difference between going all in and signing bad deals in FA. The more guys that are homegrown and develop should allow you to fill holes not have to go out and spend bad money.
- J35Bacher

What constitutes bad money is subjective. There is always a risk in signing an older player to a long term bigger money deal. Most if not all GM's will take that risk. They're in a win or get fired scenario. The idea that Hextall is not going to sign any big money UFA's in the future is not written in stone. It's probably far more likely that he will rather than the opposite.

The World jr's is great hockey but reading this blog, all I can think about is the new class coming to the AHL and who is coming up. Most notable the defense of course. It really wouldn't be the end of the world if a wild card like Sanheim beats out Hagg or Myers bears out Morin. We finally have absolute control of these kids. We're finally here.

I expect more of Konecny and Patrick. Patrick was suppose to go first, I expect him to be a 50 point getter right away or higher.

What constitutes going all in is subjective too.

As this team starts to transition to a team that relies on guys like Patrick, konecny, Lindblom, Gostisbehere, Sanheim, Myers, provorov, some of the other younger guys then I think you don't need to find big money deals in FA. i don't need to sign a guy for example like Backes for 6 million over 6 years at 33 but instead sign a guy like Justin Williams to a 2-3 year deal.

Signing a guy like Williams just as easily could constitute going all in.

They can also look to replace picks and prospects by maybe moving a guy like Simmonds or Jake when value is high kind of like they did with Schenn.

I wouldn't expect that much from Patrick.. If he gets up there, that means he's going to be getting significantly more ES and PP time than established players currently. There is going to be a 10-20 game learning curve. He might jump out of the gate, and score some points, but he will come back to earth. It's very rare that a player can come into the NHL and score like a top 6 player.

No doubt that's where he's going to be in a year or two, but not his first season. At least, that's my opinion.

sorry, I misunderstood the question

There is no 10 game slide rule for the AHL. All that does is start an ELC anyway. I don't believe there is any real restriction on when a player can be sent to Juniors if the team wants him there. It would just be a little awkward because their seasons usually end earlier anyway. Hextall likes the natural progression anyway

I think 40-50 is doable. He could have some favorable match ups since Giroux and Couturier will do most of the heavy minutes. He'll probably get PP time. And that Flyers are starting to have some roster depth so he could be playing with some solid wingers.

It's doable, but I don't expect it. That means he's coming in, and in one training camp, he's proving he's top 6 material, and superseeds G or Couts for time. Plus being thrown on the PP basically right away.

I think he's gooing to have about 12-15 points at half of season, but be around 15-20 for the second half of the season.

50+ is a lot without being on PP1. 10 PP points would be a good total for anyone on PP2, so then Patrick would also need 40+ ES points. Which means he'll surely need to play the entire season.

They waited till the day of the arbitration hearing to get the deal done, just like the Flyers did with Schenn last year.
