I personally think Kadri has more to give too. I think he was badly mismanaged in his first few years and is now starting to grow.

I love that he has hands, is pretty excellent with his two way game and plays with an edge. I think he needs to stay put at 2c until someone really skilled like a Nylander is ready to shift him into the 3c slot.

- markmark

He's also a local guy who was drafted by the organization.

Trading him for anything other than a top line or top pairing player wouldn't be worth it.

I agree he has more to give, but i don't think he was mismanaged. He seemed a little to cocky early on, not handling criticism the right way and working on things away from the puck. Now it seems like he'd lay down his life for Babcock

Think he can hit 30 goals again?

Let's also not forget his production/contributions paired with only a 4.5 cap hit

Him swearing at ristolainen (sp?) after scoring against buffalo late in the year might be my favorite highlight from the season can only imagine what garf had to say about that

False, he was a habs fan prior to being drafted....

what does that have to do with anything?

I gotta disagree. His first three years in the organization he had Ronny Wilson aka the ass hat that threw his players under the bus night in and night out to avoid any personal criticism. Then he moves onto Carlyle who sees Kadri being successful with Kessel and/or JVR but REFUSES to play them together more than 1 or 2 shifts per game.

And yes, I believe he can hit 30 again if the kids don't all regress with a sophomore slump.

that's what i meant..

a 'local toronto boy' doesn't mean he is a maple leaf fan, that's all i wanted to point out.

doesn't really matter where the players come from, as long as they're happy with the team and putting their best effort in.

imo only a + if the 'local toronto boy' was a leafs fan before being drafted.. (and i could see that it's better to have a guy from calgary that is a toronto fan being drafted over a toronto born habs fan - if we are discussing the 'local' argument)

I doubt he'd want it, playing in TO is going to be very different for him in terms of the media and fan pressure, very different than SJ. Adding the C seems like it would be too much...I feel like he's a good "lead by example" guy, not a vocal leader

He won't want or get it. Marleau will be our Stamkos-lite-lite-lite. Sit on the dot and bang in sweet feeds from Matthews and Willy.

I don't think the "local" thing has anything to do with player performance in the slightest, the butt loads of money to play a game should be incentive enough

It's important to have local players from a marketing perspective, some fans like that sort of thing. Not as important with the Leafs, but for small market teams it's huge. If Matthews played for Arizona it would be a huge boost for that team....obviously because he's great but the local thing too
