That's the argument for keeping the players in the CHL, but I don't agree with it at all. Do you really think you need those names in the CHL to sell the league? I don't think you do... They've always got the next big star coming up as well. I think the league would survive just fine allowing those top prospects to go to the AHL. The AHL on the other hand doesn't have anybody to market. The AHL is a business too, why isn't the NHL worried about having those stars in the AHL to market that league? I just seems ass backwards to me. - mixturebill
Truly special guys will make the NHL.
Guys like Drouin and Marner, while skilled were both still pretty small so i understood teams wanting them to maybe try to put some weight on.
The AHL is fine because they have guys that are close to NHL so people want to watch guys who they could see close to NHL.
I mean the system isn't perfect. but I think there are some exceptions to the rule |

I think the Flyers should trade Nolan Patrick to Vegas for MAF. |

Jason Spezza way back in the day, pretty sure Ottawa bounced him up and down a couple of times.

Did JVR play right away after he was drafted #2? Different time, different story.
Sure, the approach now is to "let the kids play", but it has also been "let the kids develop". Hextall should stick to script.
The Draft Day Pundits of the League say only Nolan and Nico are NHL ready. I'd say due to injury, allow some slower pace start-up in the AHL. |

No he's going to the Jets for a "BIG" defenseman. The NHL knows. |

It will depend how he looks at training camp. A standard response, but the right one.
Can't say how things will play out either way. Could come into camp 100% and play his way onto that team. But all the time lost and a chopped up season due to injury might warrant letting him have a full and healthy season in Junior. Draft position is just a number at the end of the day. Each guy should follow the path that makes sense for their development and long term effectiveness. |

Crazy concept: Players go into camp to prove themselves. If they're ready, they make the team. If they aren't, they get sent back for development. |

If he's sent back to junior he can only come back up on emergency recall, and only for a game.
