Reaves has always been known as a spot picker just look at when him and John Scott would be on the ice together, Cam Janssen had more balls then Reaves ever will. 10 years ago when orr, mcgratton, godard and boogard were around reaves would be eaten alive.
Top fighters Ive seen in a hawks jersey since ive been a fan which is the late 90s.
Ryan Vandenbussche, Bob Probert, Jim Vandermeer, James Wisnewski, Dave Manson and Mark Janssens, Brad brown and Jamie Allison weren't bad. And in old videos I watched Steve Smith Stu Grimson and Behn Wilson were all very tough.

Cap friendly has all three goalies included on the 22 man roster in which we are $35k over the cap. What is with that? Makes no sense at all. I saw your lineup and thought that made the most sense.

Think it has something to do with the type of contracts guys are signed to. They can only officially list it according to contracts players are signed to.

Another workout fiend. Him and Keith are at the top.

Joe, let's see how close this is if Bowman doesn't make another trade if Sharp is ok.
Sharp,Toews,Saad
Panik, AA, Kane.
For the top 6, at least to start the season, don't think for 1 minute that hasn't crossed Q and Bowman's minds.

Heard Bowman on the score this AM.....

Nothing major came out of it....

he likes his new coaches.

Excited about a few prospects

made reference to more of a top 9, then top 6 being key to scoring

Outside of that..........nothing major....

Really curious who the 3C is gonna be then. I guess Kero, maybe WIngels. Ugh.

I'd love to see Ulf implement a more aggressive breakup style for our system. Kempny seems like he'd be pretty good at it. Seabrook is a great blueline breakup guy who has been asked to babysit more so he's a LOT less aggressive now.
- JRoenick97

I remember seeing a stat somewhere that showed Seabrook as the worst defenseman on the team in the Nashville series in that category. Could be that was due to the system Kitchens had them playing. It'll be interesting to see what type of system Ulf deploys. Coaching staff chemistry will be another interesting thing to watch as the season goes on.

I agree.....he also mentioned the Skykora (spell) kid as somebody who could join the club late in the year like Hayden did after he finishes school.

Figure a given top 9 is: 14, 19, 20, 88, 15, 38, 10, 8........so leaves 1 spot.

Yeah, maybe Schmaltz 3C and Kero goes out to wing with Dauphin centering more of a defensive fourth line.

Possible day 1 roster $97,705 under the cap including Hossa's contract (per cap friendly).

Saad Toews Panik
Sharp AA Kane
Hayden Schmaltz Hartman
Bouma Dauphin Wingels
Keith Murphy
Kempny Seabs
Forsling Rutta
Crow
Forsberg

Hossa

On Day 2 they can LTIR Hossa. They can either act quickly to add a 2LW (Kane?, Duchene?) or a veteran defenseman (Beachumin? Oduya?) or they can wait and have some flexibility at TDL.

Well done....and I think this is what the roster will look like.

I'd expect them to save that space for a bit and see how players progress throughout the 1st 20 games or so......

I think that barring a trade or signing the top 4 D is set at Keith, Seabrook, Murphy and Kempny. Unless he retires Rozsival will be the 7D, but 5D and 6D are a big question mark.

I could see one of Forsling (more likely) or Rutta making the team, but not both. I wonder if Oesterle will have a legitimate shot to make it on the third pair.

Remember... I am just saying this is to be cap compliant on day 1. I think anything can happen for one game. Day 2 is a whole different matter.

Top-6 LW is definitely the wildcard which will dictate how the lineup fills out. I'm guessing at least L1 and L4 are relatively easier to predict:

Saad - Toews - Panik
Bouma - Kero/Dauphin - Wingels

For the defense, I imagine it may be closer to this:

Keith - Murphy
Forsling - Seabrook
Kempny - Rutta/Oesterle
(Roszival)

The ideal needs are clearly a top-6 LW and a top-4 D with experience to either play with Seabrook on the 2nd pair or to play on a more stable 3rd pair.

I would expect that Tootoo and Rosival could be the 13th forward and 7th Dman on day 2. The Hawks would rather have their young players playing Rockford than sitting in the press box in Chicago. Also they would not take up much extra cap room.

I agree, especially if Q is the final arbiter in who stays and who goes. The only way I see Tootoo and Roszival not being the 13th forward and 7th d-man is if they're the 12th forward and 6th d-man which would not be a good sign.

Day one roster for max cap purposes only.

Saad Toews Panik
Sharp AA Kane
Jurco Kero Hartman
Bouma Vinnie Wingle

Hossa Tootoo

Keith Seabrook
Kempny Murphy
Forsling Rozsival

Crawford
Forsberg

This gets you to $74,999,795 on day one $205 below the cap.

Then Marian Hossa is placed on LTIR when the team had a cap hit of $74,999,795 resulting in a relief of $5,274,795.

Just have to figure the rest from there.

Article I read said that he was really set in going back and getting his degree. Wanted to get it out of the way and then focus on his hockey career like Hayden did.

Starts with an "S", ends in a "P", and has an "har" in the middle.
