Right, but Kessel is a natural center. It's the position he played growing up, through college, and at least a season in the NHL. Again, look at his style of play. He plays like a center. - T-Train

I don't think he played center at all in the NHL. He played center at Minnesota, but was on the wing in Boston, and I don't think he played center at all in TOR.
I also don't think his style of play is that of a center at all. Not really sure how you see that at all.
I have no sympathy for ahole kunts that kill themselves while having kids. Selfish c sucker - Thorny
What about someone with mental illness? The brain is like any other part of the body - it can be adversely affected when its components aren't working correctly. So instead of, say, walking with a limp, someone with mental illness might do something that a normal, rational-thinking person wouldn't do.

His first two years in Boston he took 700 faceoffs. Wingers usually don't take faceoffs. As for his style of play, a player with 23 goals and 47 assists is usually what you see from a center - someone who defers and is looking to facilitate. I would also say he is more of a curling and looping skater (east-west) than a straight ahead drive to the goal type player (north-south) that is usually associated with wingers.
First off, I like these "other idiots". Their opinions matter (or do not matter) just as much as yours.
If it came down to 31 year old Green or 27 year old Schultz I'd take Schultz every time and especially when Schultz is cheaper. At the same price I would too.. Green had two 70+ point seasons, like what 8 or 9 years ago? and he hasnt had a season as productive as Schultz's last season since back then. Now if it came down to a mid twenties Green I might opt for him over Schultz...might. Furthermore on those two 70+ point seasons; it was when the Caps were insanely all offence under Brodeau. They were all run and gun and extremely good at it. It's no coincidence those were the two best/most productive years of Ovi and Backstrom's careers too. Backstrom by a long shot.
I'll say it again the guy comes off as a pu$$y. His demeanour is soft. He doesnt have the heart of a champion. - MattStrat

So he took 4.5 faceoffs per game for 2 years.
And for the bolded part.. Are you sure you're watching the Pens?
Most of Kessel's even strength goals are off the rush.. north south goals...
You mean like 10 or so of his 15 ES goals? Ok, wow, I'm sure centers Crosby and Malkin had the same.
Listen, I'm not going to get sucked down into this stupid rabbit hole with you. You're right, I'm wrong. Duh, duh, duh. Happy?
The Pens aren't going to have Kessel play center, but it's not a crazy idea, either.
Just like the Pens are probably not going to trade Kessel this offseason, but it's not a crazy idea, either. - T-Train
Go watch his goals from the past. Dude's as north south as they come. His time and space is created with his speed. His goals come off the rush. That was always Kessel's game. Kessel's game is absolutely build for a winger.
You're talking about taking one of the worst defensive forwards in the league and giving him MORE defensive responsibility and a guy who has a 43% career faceoff percentage (that is so important to you in all of your 3Cs) and sticking him in the circle? Yeah, it's a really bad idea.
