I once shoulder checked Trey Anastasio on accident at a Vinyl show that he attended following playing an Oysterhead show. It was crowded and he was trying to worm by and I just caught him flush in the chest as I was headed to the bar.

Kinda sounds like when I accidentally shouldered Mike Johnston downtown Montreal...knocked him back a couple of feet. When I turned around and apologised I realized it was him. Then as he was walking away I said "Make sure the Pens get a win tomorrow night"
He was such a frail man. Im 6 foot 200 pounds and it barely felt like I hit anything.

Yeah, Trey was a little pipsqueak too. I was kind of surprised that he didn't hit the floor.
Amazing how famous people are smaller in person - met Jean Claude Van Damme when he was in Pittsburgh filming Sudden Death (best hockey movie evah!) and he had to be like 5'5". Stacked, but it's hard not to look stacked when you're 5'5".
Eric Staal is a terrible choice that shows no foresight into the future. He is at very best a one year bandaid and then they will have to spend more assets next year on a new 3C. Getting anyone over the age of 25 is a bad idea. Karlson or Lindberg from Vegas are still very good options to fill the void. Both are young and have cap hits just over a million and won't cost a ridiculous amount to acquire. Which one you target depends on what you value more offense or defense. But the idea should be long term fit. If they don't work out at 3C they both would make phenomenal 4Cs. - Dcoms
Screw the future! Win Cups NOW! Suck later and draft another generational talent. Keep the cycle going!

Google says 5'10". What are you, 8 feet tall?
But truth there are a lot of celebs, even "tough guys", that are like 5'7"...like Tom Cruise, Mark Walberg, Stallone..etc.

cant help put add your elitist hockey view jab at the Avs at the end huh.
Hey its Colorado who knows....keep on doing you Wilson. Whisper quiet when Avs do moves that your fancy stats world would approve...but go LOLorado when they do something that even you once supported in trying to reclaim Yakupov.

Staal for the next 2 years at his current cap hit would maximize the Pens chances of winning another cup without committing long term to someone who may not be a 3C. With Staal you're getting a 2C to slot behind Sid/Geno with a 70 point Kessel on his wing (possibly.) And then in 2 years you re-evaluate the options and go from there. Pens shouldn't be too worried about 4-5 years down the road. Focus on next season and putting forth the best roster possible next year. They have a chance to go back-to-back-to-back. (frank)in go for it. On paper they are still the best team in the NHL, and if not the best they are top 5. Go for it while you can.
Everything people like about Eric Staal is exactly why we can't afford him. The Wild are not trading a 2C on a good contract for anything we can afford. For pure 2 year performance he's as valuable as Duchene maybe more.

Well that is why we can't afford him. Minnesota is win now. I don't think Sprong + a 1st would even get us that far in trade talks.

Yeah, I don't think there's any chance in the world that Eric Staal is available. It's a nice pipe dream though, he'd be a good fit.
I honestly think they'll start the way they ended it - Cullen at 3rd line center, Rowney at 4th line center. Then stash the cash until the new year and then go bigger on a rental - Little/Plekanec or something like that.

I am all for going for ti now as much you can. I actually wasn't being a smart ace for once in my life.
My third line options for center would be:
1) Nazem Kadri 26y/o 5 years left @ 4.5
2) Eric Staal 32y/o 2 years left @ 3.5
3) Tomas Hertl 23y/o 1 year left @ 3.0 (RFA)
4) Sam Bennett 21y/o RFA
Obviously all would cost a different amount but I'd be open to trading any of Hornqvist, Hagelin, Maatta, Sheary, Jarry, 1st...
With sprong and Aston Reese apparently ready and cost effective forwards we seen in playoffs I think all 4 options are very realistic. Let's hear some feedback.
Ryan Wilson thoughts???

Leafs are not trading Kadri, at all lol they JUST signed him to that deal.
Staal MIGHT be available but doubtful.
Hertl could be expensive, but the Sharks are in win now, so not sure if they'd move him.
Bennett.. not sure if he's even available or why he would be available.
I personally don't think Sprong and ZAR are ready yet.

I don't think any of those players are/will be available. Ruth will come up with something, but I'm guessing it will be another Bones type player. I'm glad he's taking a "wait and see" approach, but I think he needs to solve it before the season starts.
