to sit in the press box?

27-19
55-6
41-4
??

I would like to trade Gunnar and have Borts as the extra/fill in.

And give the 3rd pairing to both a young LD and RD to have a chance. Or split them up with Edmundson and Parayko if you don't want to rookies playing together.

I certainly wouldn't be heartbroken if we did trade Gunnar, I just don't see the benefit of trading him now being worth the risk of only having 5 NHL ready defensemen if the prospects struggle. Blues will, at some point, have a defenseman get injured for at least a few games. Are we really that sure that they have 2 prospects ready to play in the NHL?

Schmaltz and Lindbolm probably are if not Dunn

they have 3 guys probably ready and Walman coming

a third pairing of Schmaltz Lindbolm

wouldn't be horrible

and Borts fills in

I think Lindbolm and Schmaltz are two that could play tomorrow and I would be more than comfortable. Dunn as well.

And I have a feeling Walman is going to be the best of the prospect bunch, and ready in a hurry.

Really, we quickly have a bunch of quality AHL/NHL ready LHD. I could see all 3 playing regularly pretty soon. So I am ready right now to move Gunnar for basically nothing but the cap space.

Still great deal. Army pulls it off again. Where is trust in Jarmo? haha
- cuethenoise

Probably still getting over the sting of the expansion draft. At least when Army trades a first rounder he gets a player in return.

Good contract. He's already played at that value and should only get better.

I completely missed the Beau Bennett signing, I look forward to seeing how he fits in.

I guess I'm just not as high on Lindbohm as you. I think he could be ready for consistent third line duty, but would rather not count on it. Especially when all we'd get back for Gunnar would be cap space.

That said, last off season I remember you being much higher on Edmundson than I was, you certain he'd get a protection spot while I said it could go either way, and you (and several others) were certainly right there.

I'm on record of wanting to see what Lindbohm & Schmaltz can do on the 3rd pair, with Borts backing up. That hasn't changed. I'm truly excited by the potential of Dunn & Walman, but it can't hurt them to get more time in the AHL. Undoubtedly, there will be an injury and at least one of them can get his feet wet this season, if not both of them, over the next 82 games.

The other thing is Vegas is still sitting on a couple of NHL-caliber defensemen I don't see them keeping, so a guy like Gunnar isn't going to bring much of a return on a prospect/pick until that logjam has worked its way through the league. I would rather they hold onto him at present and see how the season unfolds.

Like the old saying goes, you can't have enough defencemen. I'd love to see Walman or one of the other prospects make the team as much as anybody but they've got to at least out play a guy like Gunnarson before you just hand them a spot. Gunnar is already pretty much the low man on the totem pole going by ice time so they won't hesitate to sit him.

No need to get rid of him now though, there could be injuries or it could turn out that the kids just aren't yet up to the task.

Yeah I'm not that high on Lindbohm or Schmaltz either for that matter. Walman and Dunn have top 4 potential though.

Except when it comes to sweater selection.

Oh, and Eric Brewer.

Aside from that, you are genius.

Men want to be you. Women want to be with you.

or vice versa.

I'm of a different belief though I share some the sentiment. If it weren't for the Swedish love fest in the room I am all for getting rid of Gunnar. But he is a solid soldier and his teammates have an obvious respect.

What is wrong with my sweater selection? I never said that the jersey I get is the best player or anything, just a player that I like.

And what was I wrong about with regards to Eric Brewer?

PS, I might be getting a Parayko jersey this year, depending on how much I like the new white jerseys.

I respect Gunnar, he is a good NHL defenseman.

He just makes too much for a 3rd pairing guy, and we have young guys ready to step up IMO. And Edmundson has become our 2LD, so he is a 3LD for us.

i was afraid of that. Poor guy doesn't even realize his career's about to go in the crapper.

Please don't do this. He has so much to live for.

Buy a Berglund instead. His career can take another hit.

Not really. His cap hit is minimal. I would prefer a younger player in his place or playing a number of games with him coming in as a seventh dman. And I would prefer to not have his cap but it is what it is in this case.

Not the Brewtal jersey😉

Don't forget Halak and Lehtera. He was also a big advocate for trading Petro and making Shatty the number 1....

Halak was a good goalie during his time with the Blues. Injuries at bad times were his downfall with us.

I'm a fan of Lehtera. He isn't as bad as people make him out to be. He did struggle the past two years though.

And the Petro/Shatty stuff wasn't that I preferred him over Petro. Simply that we would be able to get a legit forward and that might be a good option if we wanted to keep Shatty long term.

Oh. I was just giving you a chance to show a little humility there but apparently you decided to go in the other direction.

Actually you were wrong about all those players as well as sobotka but don't let me stand in the way of your hubris.

The cap space we'd get for Gunnar is only useful if we use it elsewhere. Blues can keep Gunnar until December & still do whatever it is they would with his cap space today, thanks to Berglund's injury.
