Ericsson had season ending surgery. Holland can't buy out an injured player. He wouldn't anyway. Errorsson is one of his boys. Sheahan will likeiy stay. Blashill loves him.
- gergeswillems

Ericsson is no longer injured though. He would be eligible for a buyout though I doubt it happens. I just mention Sheahan because he would be the easiest roster player to move to free up cap.

I agree with you buddy, the best way for DET to free up cap space is to trade someone like Sheahan to a team looking for a 3rd C *cough Pens cough*. If not, Holland will buy out someone like Mrazek who isn't his favorite player. It's me or KH doesnt like players from Czech Rep and Slovakia?

No. Holland carries a grudge on Mrazek since he almost took him to arbitration last summer. Holland tried lowballing Mrazek and then caved in at the last minute and agreed to a 2 year deal. Ever since then Holland has used his press puppet Helene St. James to basically blame Mrazek for all of the teams problems. He'll do the same thing with Tatar.

Palat just signed 5x5.3m that is what should happen with Tatar.

The playoff thing is dumb because nobody on this team has been good in the playoffs and the team has not been a favorite in a playoff matchup in how many years?

- Feds91Stammer

Whether or not the other wings have been good in the playoffs is irrelevant. And so is the statement about the Wings being favorites in a playoff series. Some players do still produce consistently in playoffs (we all know this team sucks)... I don't care if the team squeaks in by the skin of their teeth or they're a Stanley Cup Contender. Young Bertuzzi is a perfect example... he's clutch in the playoffs (yeah... I know AHL doesn't count, just making a point. Him and his agent will certainly mention that in any kind of contract negotiations (as would any player).

Scariest prediction I've seen has dekeyser as our firstborn pair def, does anyone else think this guy is terrible and holland jumped the gun on a 5 for 5 deal?

The funny thing about HSJ and others bringing up Tatar's playoff resume? He's second in team scoring over the last three playoffs that the team has played in.

1. Datsyuk: 10 points in 17 games
2. Tatar: 7 points in 17 games
3. Zetterberg: 6 points in 14 games (but more total minutes played than Tatar)

Normally I wouldn't wade into this because I think the sample sizes here are way too small to draw any meaningful conclusions. But it's hard to single out Tatar here for being bad in the playoffs when pretty much everyone else on the entire team besides Datsyuk was even worse.

Sven you of all people know it is best to judge players based on 3 separate small sample sizes

All the articles that I read made it sound like Tatar was asking for AAV of 6+ million? He only wants 5.3 million? (frank)ing sign that poop. 5 years 5.2 million (just to say we negotiated). Holy (frank). Plus other teams want him? Trade him for something as he is a waste on this poophole team

"Only" $5.3 million? Palat just signed for that, and Ondrej is certainly the better player (and younger). I'm not saying that Tatar isn't worth that money; just that I can see why management won't just hand it over to him.

Aside from offensive stats, defensive stats, and the eye test?

Post all of the charts that you want; Palat is still a better player.

I didn't say "leaps and bounds". He's just simply a better player.

Palat isn't much younger, as I thought he was, though. I thought his first year of draft eligibility was 2010. It was actually 2009.

So the Wings have resigned Frk for another year. I'm glad he's still in the organization.... but I hope he likes GR because Holland isn't going to give him any ice time in Detroit. Probably lose him on waivers yet again... It would be nice to see him get a shot on the 4th line... he's got a heck of a shot and a good power play guy.

If that's all they want him for, they just drafted Rasmussen, that can already do that (plus play some defense, take face-offs, and actually skate).

Frk's best shot at becoming an NHLer was to become the next Tomas Holmstrom. He didn't. He is just not smart enough and not dedicated enough.

Tatar scores more goals and has better shot impacts. They are on par with each other.

You seem to have forgotten;
1) Florida can pay less as the state does not have an income tax,
2) this is the wings and while Tampa is known for shrewd dealings we are not...can't pay Abby a ton for one 20 goal season and not pay tats. Tampa has signed ppl to reasonable deals, so others fall in line.
3) it seems palat is viewed as better bc he is on the better team. Not tatars fault he plays for Detroit
4 and finally, you forgot that you are dumb. Please look in the mirror and tell yours of that every morning and night

Doesn't work that way.

Players who are in their final year Restricted Free Agency are only entitled to a 1 year term.

Player elected Arbitration Settlements of 1 year & > $4,084,219, Club can walk away from the awarded salary, making the player a UFA [CBA 12.10(a)]

By what you just said, i really wonder if you've ever even seen Frk play. Frk is not a front net guy and was never going to be one. Putting a right handed canon of a shot in that type of role would be moronic. His best shot is an Ovechkin type of setup on the PP or in a pinch as a pointman (although i'm not sure at the NHL level that would be a good option right off the bat). Frk is similar to Pulkkinen but bigger, bit more edge to his game and a better release to his shots.

Rasmussen, not a fan of this pick. To me this guy reminds me of Frederik Gauthier who the Leafs drafted 21st overall in 2013 and has yet to even do anything in the AHL let alone NHL. I'm not writing him off but lets just say i don't have high hopes for this kid. I think he tops off at 3rd or 4th line center and a front net PP guy.
