Holland unfortunately pulled a Lombardi, and handed out contracts with a bit of a loyalty clause? With Abbs and Helm! and Tatar is definitely do, I can't believe however that their can't be some sort of trade for trouba? A RH dman from Michigan,Winnipeg is apparently looking for a number 4 LH defenseman? ,but with Tatar boy they'd be stacked in their top six! ,speed and skill, not sure if detroit has a dman that could fit in their top LH top 4? But Holland being a well connected veteran gm! You would think that he could be/get creative and possibly make a three way deal? To bring the kid home and give the wings a backend player they desperately need,If somehow detroit could get trouba?they win the lottery and draft Dahlin! Holy shat they'd be on their way to a shortened rebuild? imho! Anyway hopefully Tartar can sign a 5.6ish mil ×5 ?and then move on |

What a (frank)ing joke
Tatar is asking for $5.3 million and the club is offering $4.1 million, a source told MLive. If the case is heard by an arbitrator Thursday in Toronto, Tatar will receive a one-year contract. |

Agreed. He never shows up until the game is out of hand, and wants that kind of money.
Even still, it's even more of a joke that the likes of Ericsson, Helm, Abedelkader, & DDK get the money they do, now. |

Even without those bad deals, I actually don't think $6 million is a ridiculous ask for Tatar. Ideally you'd want a little more of a discount, but that's really not far off from fair value. - Sven22
It's the term that scares me more than anything else. I don't want Tatar on a 6 or 7 year deal. No way. We got too many crappy long term deals as it is. It's not like he's been a playoff stud. I'd be fine with 4 or maybe 5 years at 5 million or something close to it.
I do agree that if he's trade bait a one-for-one deal for a younger good NHL player or talented prospect with upside is the way to go. |

Palat just signed 5x5.3m that is what should happen with Tatar.
The playoff thing is dumb because nobody on this team has been good in the playoffs and the team has not been a favorite in a playoff matchup in how many years? |

16 of Tatar's 25 goals last season either tied the game or put the Red Wings ahead by one.
I'm aware that Tatar struggled early in the season before getting hot near the end. I understand that the timing of these streaks was not ideal.
I'm also aware that every single player in NHL history goes through hot and cold streaks, and you don't always get to pick when they happen. Henrik Zetterberg closed out 2015-16 with 1 goal in his last 24 games, and if you'll recall the Wings had to win their last three games AND get help from Boston on the last day of the season to sneak in.
$5.3 million is not a big ask from Tatar. It's extremely reasonable. I'm honestly surprised he didn't ask for more. I would have if I were in his place. |

Do the Wings have players on (or heading to) LTIR? According to CapFriendly, they only have $2.3M, and they still need to sign Tatar and Athanasiou. Not trolling, legitimately want to know.
Edit: Just noticed Franzen is on LTIR, but that still only gives them $6.2M. How much is Athanasiou going to get?

At the beginning of the season he was 1 of the 10 unluckiest players based on ixG and actual goal differential. Some people just don't understand that. Just like people don't understand that basically every non superstar is a streaky player because of this little thing called random variance. |

Tatar arbitration will open up a 2nd buyout window and based on the organizations actions I would not be surprised to see a Mrazek buyout if they cannot trade him. Because of his age a buyout is only 1/3 of his remaining salary. This would save them almost 3.5M this season and only cost them 691K next year. This would leave them Howard (protected over Mrazek) and Coreau (who they like a lot for some reason and just won an AHL championship) in DET and leave Machovsky (a decent looking undrafted Czech prospect they recently signed) and McCollum (who they recently reacquired in a trade for some reason) in GR. |

The Blues exchanged arbitration figures with the Wings regarding Parayko and Tartar today. I'd expect Tartar's request to deflate a bit as a result...or Parayko's to inflate. |

Thanks. I love hockey, but have never gotten into the ins and outs of the CBA. I really need to start playing around with CapFriendly's armchair GM program. |

First off it is Tatar.
Second off wtf does Tatar negotiations have to do with Parayko negotiations? |

That wouldn't surprise me at all given Holland's disdain for Mrazek. |

An Ericsson buyout would be a decent cap option too but I doubt Holland does that.
Also wouldn't be surprised if trading Sheahan for a 4/5th is the cap solution. |

I mean for one RFA year KH would have been crazy to offer anything more than 4.5. 4.1 sounds about right for a lowball RFA offer for arbitration. |

Ericsson had season ending surgery. Holland can't buy out an injured player. He wouldn't anyway. Errorsson is one of his boys. Sheahan will likeiy stay. Blashill loves him. |
