There's not enough comic book nerds to make the kind of box office sales these movies do now

The movies are made to MAKE $$$
which means they will attempt to please a wide audience, not YOU
It's a business Gerbe

- jdfitz77

it's all flash, wow factor, sound and special effects

you don't have masterpieces like jaws, godfather, or pale rider anymore

remakes, low budget pieces of crap and big budget special effect movies

Vanek & Jagr are still out there

Besides my issue in general with taking forwards over defensemen early in the draft, the TYPE of forwards we are drafting kinda baffles me

Mittelstadt- playmaker
Nylander- playmaker
Eichel- self described playmaker, though he can obviously finish
Reinhart- playmaker

Not that I dislike Mittelstadt or Nylander...
but when trying to figure out lines in 2-3 years,
we have A LOT of playmakers, and few "FINISHERS"

EVERYTHING you're saying is based off what you PREVIOUSLY knew

What u have to realize... is that the movies made now are not re-hashes of what has happened in the comics

Yes, they pull from particular story lines & the general concept of the superhero & the villains he fights are repetitive
BUT
The details are changed to make it different

This is done so we aren't watching the same movie over & over

They even do this in comics when they "reboot" and basically do different storylines, change some of the rules, characters, etc etc

Each movie made now is INDEPENDENT from previous works,
be it Comics, tv, or other movies

If u can't separate that...
then u will CONSTANTLY be disappointed in the product

- jdfitz77

You do realize the only one that's having trouble is DC ,Marvel knows what the hell they're doing in the movie Department they go straight from the comic book and they turn a simple b-list character into a star.. DC just has trouble making a story

They haven't rehashed any stories in Marvel because they hit out of the park DC has failed so many times that they tried rebooting and restarting the series that's why it's been a huge ass failure

Captain America 1
Thor 1
Incredible Hulk 2
Iron Man 1
Doctor Strange 1

DC
Superman 3
Batman too many lol 5
Wonder Woman 1
Green Lantern going to be Rebooted 2

DC is just a complete failure right now they have the hardest times just completing a comic book story lol

That's a matter of perspective
You're old, so of course you'll prefer those movies you'd consider "classic"

I'm sure your elders would've said the same thing about your movie choices when they'd reference Wizard of Oz, Rebel Without a Cause, Casablanca, etc

I'm hopeful he's got the skill, speed & sniping ability that he can become the perfect linemate for Jack

He did well with McDavid in Juniors

He should get a shot at some point if he keeps producing

The Nolan trilogy is great
It also differs quite a bit from most previous Batman lore

Just like "The Dark Knight" comic series did

Perfect example of how u just need to accept the differences & enjoy the movies for what they are

- jdfitz77

There was nothing wrong with Nolan Trilogy I can't pinpoint one thing ( ok maybe at the end when she was touching Bane lol

1)The Nolan trilogy Batman didn't kill anybody ( maybe Ra's al Ghul but not really)
That's why he couldn't kill the Joker

2) Batman returns The Penguin died on his own

3) Joker died on his own he chose to go on the helicopter ..

The other Batman's I could give to poops about lol

In the Nolan Trilogy is the best Trilogy of all time sorry everyone

- GERBE!!!75PTS

I'm not saying I disagree with you about the "No Killing" rule for Batman. I just find it interesting that he kills in almost every movie, particularly the popular ones, but people really seemed to get upset about it in BvS like it was something that had never been done before. To be clear, I like the Burton Bat-movies and the Nolan Trilogy (TDR is fairly weak, though).

In the Burton movies, Batman kills goons left and right. He gives zero (frank)s about whether he kills people. Off the top of my head, during the bell tower climb, he throws a guy off it and watches him fall to his death. And he most definitely killed the Joker. He attached a gargoyle to the leg of a guy who was already dangling from a rope ladder attached to a hovering helicopter. He knew exactly what was going to happen after that. In Returns, he attached a bomb to a dude and then threw him down a hole to explode. Batman also killed several guys with the Batmobile jet engine.

The Nolan films are less egregious, but he still kills like a dozen people. Batman killed Ra's (real and fake). Bruce also kills a lot of league members when he blows up a building with them in it. He kills the guy driving the garbage truck in TDK. He kills Harvey Dent. He kills Talia's driver by shooting him to death with the Bat. He then causes the crash that kills Talia.

OOOOOOOOOH REEEEEEEEALLLLY NOW...

Punisher
-2 separate movies, 2nd was reboot
-1 tv show reboot

Daredevil
-movie was regarded as horrible (I liked it)
-tv show reboot

Elektra
-spinoff of Daredevil movie, got trashed
(I also liked this one)

Fantastic Four
-didn't see the reboot, but it's generally called one of the worst superhero movies made

Hellboy
-getting a reboot
-the 1st two movies were well accepted, but I was underwhelmed

Incredible Hulk
-3 different actors playing the main character in 3 movies
(I'll just leave out the stupidly horrible tv show which was a joke, bc its from a time before what we are really discussing now)
-what's left for this character in the current Marvel / Avengers stories
Are they gonna vanish him to Planet Hulk, etc?

Spider-Man
-has been rebooted twice now
-Spider-man 3 rivals the latest Fantastic4 as far as sh!tty comic book movies go

And I'll even say this about the Avengers current storyline...
it's getting pretty ridiculous
It's at such a grand scale now,
that every movie is just about the end of the world

As long as these movies keep making $$$ they'll keep getting rebooted
It's not about whether they're good or not
It's business buddy, plain & simple

I really liked the punisher movie with Thomas Jane

Daredevil was decent, got a bad rap

don't waste your time with the new fantastic 4, bad on so many levels

hellboy was great, should have kept it going

hulk, never got it right
you can't show the hulk for 5 minutes in a stand alone movie, and they did it twice

spiderman, mixed
I have not seen the 3rd reboot but
the first batch was good but they f@cked up the goblin and I love the goblin

the second batch was decent, but they f@cked up the lizard, my 3rd favorite bad guy

you never talked about the abortion called ghost rider
they screwed the dog with the second one

It's probably worth noting that none of the movies you mentioned were made by Marvel except for Incredible Hulk, which is actually considered part of the current MCU.

In the early 90's Marvel sold the film rights to many of its characters to avoid bankruptcy. They've since gotten some of those rights back (like Daredevil/Elektra, Punisher, Blade).

Hellboy isn't Marvel.

What's your definition of "classic" though?
Seems u might be saying it has to be one of these "epic" type tales

Today's generation would talk about Avatar for example
How about the Matrix?

Are the Bourne movies this generations Indiana Jones?
Do those count as classics?

And does it even have to be so "epic" in nature?
Were movies like Dead Poets Society classics? Shawshank redemption, etc

Is the Departed or Boondock Saints a newer "classic" than The Godfather or Scarface, etc?

U can do it with tv too

All I'm saying is that your (and anyone's) perspective is drastically shaped by what they thought was great when they were growing up

So your "classics" aren't what this generation or, or the generation before you, perceives to be their "classics" necessarily
It matters heavily on personal perspective

This is going to get pretty interesting ( the Ra's al Ghul thing followers was not his fault it's not like he started the fire on purpose and intentionally killed those people) Harvey Dent he couldn't hold onto him so therefore he died so it really wasn't an intentional kill ) (garbage truck scene maybe )

In bvs Batman intentionally kills people without any warning and he Slaughters them lol he probably killed over 40 people in that phone Just one movie

https://youtu.be/RWgyKDfFC_U ( that's why at the end of the movie The Joker was happy that he was dying but then when Batman saved him he was pissed off )
