was tallinder ever that good defensively that would make him as good as or better than campbell?
- Sabresfan-365

I thought Hank was a better shutdown guy than soup and soup was a quarterback. I dont have any charts or tables.

It's easier to eat dinner if you have one of these to set your plates on.

The roster is not done so who knows but they need to find jack a winger that can finish and I'm confident they will get that
- GERBE!!!75PTS

There will not be any major moves made the rest of the summer.

So this notion that Jack will be getting his winger this offseason needs to be removed from your thinking.

Which is why I said 83 points...

Campbell saw more ice time than them (at least in 06-07 and 07-08)
- Sabresfan-365

Campbell played a TON on the PP...

Especially those years right after the lockout when penalties were called every minute and a half...

Tallinder and Lydman
Tallinder and Myers

Tallinder did a lot more for those teams than most people give him credit for.

Sure Campbell earned more points but look at 05-06

Tallinder +10
Campbell -15

I think it's a toss up between the two but neither are in my top 6 for the Sabres

I don't know what winger he will bring in but the gm is very crafty can't really win games when you can't score goals ..

And Jack sets up people with a perfect dime but they cant score

- GERBE!!!75PTS

Cannot remember how many times I saw that this season, brutal. Drouin would have been awesome.

So you'd be okay with moving Nylander or Middlestat plus (1st or 2nd round pick) for a winger for Jack who is going to cost 5-6 million in salary?

This offseason is basically done...at least when it comes to adding players. Expect the Eichel signing and arbitration and that's about it.

I think Botts goes with basically what we have, maybe a minor ufa add, but this is probably 95% of the roster we see opening night. Let the kids play in Rochester grow their game and see where guys like Rhino and Kane are at the end of the season.
Im thinking this season is more about evaluating than anything else.

Even without Lydman, Numminen and McKee, I think we could have won the cup if Tallinder hadn't broken his arm

depends whether you count this as part of the off season but i think they make another move somewhere in September . Edit: another addition i mean

still waiting to see what happens with gorges. player rifts aside, i dont think he wants to be a healthy scratch and i dont think the organization wants to pay a guy 4 mil to be a healthy scratch when they've got falk and fedun.

neither do i ( i dont think they go back far enough). I just thought the opposite. That tallinder was good defensively but campbell was great offensively.

Sure maybe Gorges is moved but you're not going to see this major addition type (a player to play with Jack) like Gerbe is talking about

I'm just saying we don't know what this gm is capable of he might get a buy low type of prospect in a trade and might just click with Jack

202 of his 504 career points came on the PP...

In 05-06 27 of his 44 points came on the PP

Take it for what its worth.

He was great on the PP no doubt

Vanek & Jagr are still out there

Besides my issue in general with taking forwards over defensemen early in the draft, the TYPE of forwards we are drafting kinda baffles me

Mittelstadt- playmaker
Nylander- playmaker
Eichel- self described playmaker, though he can obviously finish
Reinhart- playmaker

Not that I dislike Mittelstadt or Nylander...
but when trying to figure out lines in 2-3 years,
we have A LOT of playmakers, and few "FINISHERS"

Not sure what you're getting at here

Campbell scoring 40% of his points on the PP doesn't diminish how good he was offensively at all imo (if that's what u were trying to say)

Karlsson for example,
177pp pts out of 456 total points
39% of his pts on the pp

ABSOLUTELY NOT

Why in the hell anyone thinks O'Reilly at wing is a good idea is beyond me
He is our ONLY good defensive center
O'Reilly needs to stay there for matchup purposes
Plain & simple

That was gameplan for life without Kane assuming we don't add another LW, that allows the top 6 to play familiar positions
