When did I say "every great player ever was a puck battler?"
Go ahead... I'll wait

Find space, huh?
In today's NHL, with all the interference & clutching & grabbing, etc?
Yeah...
you're making it sound so easy to do

I also never said "I want to rely on my best players battling for pucks"
Again, making a leap from what I said & putting words in my mouth
But it is hockey...
there are puck battle ALL THE TIME

And when my skilled guys do have the puck...
they need to be STRONG ENOUGH to not get knocked off it

This is literally the dumbest convo I've ever had

Again... not saying he needs to bench 250
But there's NO DOUBT that he needs to get stronger

- jdfitz77

there you go again. i have given real opinions on the issue and you keep giving the same old cold hard no doubt bordering on factual "opinion." and where are you coming up with any of your info saying he or anyone for that matter is going to just get knocked off the puck? this is a dumb conversation because youre stuck on that one point about strength and keep driving it home without exception. you keep spinning in circles and ending up right back where you started. btw the whole convo started with someone saying he mite be traded in 2 or 3 years and others saying hes good and might be a sabre sooner rather than later and it all got spun into hitting the gym and when people say otherwise you keep pounding away.

Pure speculation

And Bennett has played wing in the top6
He's been knocked down to mostly 3rd line bc of his play

Couldn't u make the argument that Bennett should be producing MORE on the 3rd line going up against lesser talent?

- jdfitz77

It's not speculation to project the numbers Sam would have without Jack because we saw 21 games last year and they weren't pretty

Also, put him in the West and he takes a step back too with their physical play and tough travel schedule. The numbers just keep coming down for Sam

Since it's commonly said that just about every guy who just gets drafted needs to get stronger... then it's not exactly a leap for me to say that about Mittelstadt... is it?

Yes... I believe a guy without upper body strength can get away with it against high schoolers, but not NHLers

It's not really anything mind blowing that I'm saying
It's common sense

I'm not gonna argue this anymore.

Reinhart is better, im not denying that. But the "it's not close" is just plain false.

Yes, it is speculation
21 games is a pretty small sample size

And also, Kane was out of the lineup as well
Sam was playing against tough talent without much help
Who was Sam playing with when Kane & Eichel were out?

90pts to 61pts isn't close
That's a significant margin

Your speculation doesn't equal fact

Dude, you're impossible.

Now it's just plain point totals.

Should I point out all the guys who have massively out scored Kane in terms of points over the past two years, and then you can tell me only goals matter again?

U can change the argument all u want
Won't make u anymore right

The FACT is that we DO NOT KNOW how Reinhart would do as 3C

While u say his points would go down bc he'd be playing without Jack...
and I'd say that's reasonable
Couldn't u also say it's reasonable that it would be easier for him to score against lesser talent?

Both scenarios hold weight
Yet it seems u somehow KNOW that his points would drop?
That's why I say you're just speculating

You brought it up again.

But seriously. Reinhart is better. It's not night and day, but it is pretty significant especially given the regression from Bennett this year.

I'm not speculating a thing. I actually have facts to back up my claim

From 2015-17 points per 60 at 5 on 5

Bennett 1.45
Reinhart 1.56

This is while one player plays with Jack Eichel, the other plays with guys like Alec Chaisson and Kris Versteeg

So according to Ek the Sabres have talked to Chiasson. If they go into camp and feel the kids aren't quite ready he would be a guy I'd throw a one year deal at and be totally fine with him on the 3rd line.

Well if that's the stat u want to use...
then Jack & Sam are "close"

Is that what you're telling me?
Go ahead post Jack's 5v5 points per 60min

I guess
Idk that I'd care much whether we signed him or not

I'd rather have Jagr or Vanek
Although that's not adding any speed, which we could use

They are close 5 on 5.....because they play on the same damn line.

Jesus man. Come on.

In all situations Eichel has a lot more separation

And yes...
when u say Reinhart will have similar stats as Bennett if Sam were at 3C...
it's PURE SPECULATION

U don't KNOW that he wouldn't be more successful against lesser talent
You're just assuming so

Not all line mates are close 5v5 though sir
Correct? Or not?

And comparing 2 guys 5v5 stats...
on different teams
In different roles
In different positions
Against different level of talent

Well...
that's not quite "apples to apples"
Is it?

Ones that are constant linemates? Usually they are

McDavid and Leon are 1 and 2 for Edmonton.

Edit- for 2016/17. They didn't play together the previous year

Idk about that
I'm sure I can go through & find quite a few that aren't

Although I suppose "close" is a relative term,
and when u break it down to that degree the difference between .1 is probably bigger than it actually appears

There isn't one stat that's perfect.

Just like basic points don't tell the whole story
