NEWS: #Amerks agree to terms with Barry Goers, Adam Krause on one-year @TheAHL contracts for 2017-18 season. --> http://amerks.co/q6hKRm

Loading up on former WSB players in Rochester.

Rochester Americans General Manager Randy Sexton announced today that the team has signed defenseman BARRY GOERS and forward ADAM KRAUSE to one-year American Hockey League contracts.

Goers concluded his seventh pro season in 2016-17 with AHL career-highs in goals (4), assists (8), points (12) and plus/minus (+16) in 37 games for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. He also appeared in four playoff games with the Penguins.

A native of Ivyland, Pa., Goers makes his fourth stop in the American Hockey League, having recorded 38 points (7+31) in 167 career games with Lake Erie, Bridgeport and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. In his pro career, the 31-year-old has tallied 106 points (23+83) in 315 games, including 145 ECHL appearances with the Las Vegas Wranglers and Wheeling Nailers.

Before joining the pro ranks, the 5-foot-9, 175-pound veteran blueliner totaled 42 points (5+37) in four seasons at UMass-Lowell (H-East). Goers led all River Hawks defensemen in scoring as a sophomore during the 2007-08 campaign and was twice named to the Hockey East All-Academic Team.

Krause, 25, recorded seven points (3+4) and four penalty minutes in 14 games for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last season in addition to appearing in three postseason contests. He also registered 24 points on nine goals and 15 assists in 26 games with the ECHL’s Wheeling Nailers.

A native of Hermantown, Minn., Krause has appeared in 29 career AHL games, all with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, compiling 11 points (4+7) and 14 penalty minutes. He’s also totaled 52 points (26+26) over parts of three ECHL seasons with Wheeling.

Prior to turning pro, the 6-foot-3, 210-pound forward played four years at the University of Minnesota-Duluth (NCHC), where he amassed 37 points (16+21) in 133 career games and was a two-time team captain for the Bulldogs. He was named one of eight members to the inaugural NCHC Scholar-Athlete Team and was a finalist for UMD Athletics Shjon Podein Community Service Award during his senior year.

Rochester begins its 62nd season in the American Hockey League on Friday, Oct. 6 against the Syracuse Crunch at The Blue Cross Arena. Amerks Season Ticket Memberships for the 2017-18 campaign, which start as low as just $12 per game, are on-sale now. no like the team that might trade a top pairing guy if you offer mittelstadt but wont if you offer reinhart.

Taken from this article:

His numbers would suggest something in the range of $7MM to $10MM

Jesus...can you leave a bigger gap?

Then to comments...

It's like they have never seen him play

7 years 56 million??

Nobody knows how good he really is.

- Stripes77

I was reading that yesterday and was laughing so hard. How many 20 year olds in their second season score at a point per game pace on team missing the playoffs (by a lot)? I think the comments section is hilarious. If we can get his number below $9 (long term) I would be very impressed.

I would say, I dont care what his cap number hit is, we just need to know what it is for the next 8 years so we can fill around him. $11? ok, I guess, just need to know what it is.

This GM is not trading Mittlestadt for almost anyone. No not even a Pat Kane because the idea is to supplement your roster with cheaper players when Eichel starts hitting the cap. So there are very few players, if any, he would trade Mittlestadt (his first ever draft pick as a GM) for. I know I make it sound like if Pitt said, here is Crosby we want Mittlestadt that he would not do it. Crosby would never be offered up first, but of course he would do that. But it would never be offered up. Mittlestadt should be here next year on the first of his 3 year entry deal and should tear it up with Eichel. This is not NHL 18 on PS4.

Let me guess, for a Dman? Personally I like his talent and would like to see what he has to offer before talking about deaing him.

The trade was Kane and pick for Tatar, so in that would not be "another" 6mil winger, but replacing Kane (5.25) with a 6mil guy, but as later messages show, Tatar only wanted 5.25, so it would be even for years to come. Not saying Sabres should do it, just clarifying as I see it.

I think Jack needs a true top 3 sniper winger. Dont care what we pay him, we need it and they will both tear it up. Maybe that winger is Okposo as they (Eichel and Okposo) have never played together on 5v5.

- Lilroot9

I don't want either Kane or Tatar here after this year at 6 mil

Fair enough. I think Eichel needs a top 3 winger. Sure I dont want to pay much, but I think he needs that if we make and go deep in the playoffs.

The job in Afghanistan is driving me nuts. They were emailing about asking them to ask them questions. I did, and they had another staff member email me Sunday morning and send me a message saying he was one who interviewed me, what a pleasure and it is is a big decision it is to move abroad and ask them questions. I wrote back with questions on Sunday and no reply yet. He said your questions would not affect your candidacy for job so you can ask anything. So, what is up?

A great winger, sure I'm down. An average 45-50 point one, no thanks. We're already paying one 6

I mean i said top pair literally in the first sentence so...good "guess"?

I like his talent too it just wouldnt surprise me if they chose to do that because they felt they needed a top pair guy and reinhart wasnt enough

In two years the Sabres will look a bit different and this kid is going to be a stud, I believe, so much too early to discuss this.

its all hypotheticals, it's fun to talk about. i dont equate it with giving up on a guy or anything like that though.

Edit: im less convinced he'll be a star though

Yeah you gotta re-read the context that is not at all what i was saying. Just that its possible down the road its something they might consider if his value is higher than say reinhart and they're trying to add a d-man.

Star is relative, main part of the core and exciting productive player, yeah.

You converse with some people and they think Reinhart is going to knock it out of the park this year and all his problems fell on Bylsma. We'll see.

Bill Hoppe was on Siriux XM NHL Radio yesterday and he mentioned that he expects Lehner to sign a 3 year deal of about $10MM dollars.

Not sure if he knows anything or is just guessing.

Kind of what I was expecting. $3.3M a year isn't bad. When healthy, he has been above average, and hopefully with a better defense his numbers continue to rise.

This would be a very good deal for the Sabres if they did this. Gives them time to groom Ulmark and the new Finn properly. Plus if either of these two guys show they are ready to step up, Lehner's contract is very tradeable. Probably could get a 1st rounder for him around #23.

He's completely guessing IMO

Only a cap hit of $3.33 million?

Isn't that his qualifying offer?

So an average goaltender is making less than $3.5 million as a starter?

Not gonna happen

i think he'll pile up points, but a lot of it will be PP. of course he's likely to be part of the core when we expect the team to be really good so his 5v5 production may match that.

I dont think reinhart is as good or as bad as people make him out to be. He's like the anti-risto. fails the eye test more often than not but you look at the other numbers and a lot of them read well.
