I edited it. I meant irrelevant as in the bulk of game play. Tracking pucks in close, yes, it makes a difference.
Edit: Several players prefer black tape for their sticks because it makes it harder for the goalie/defender to track the puck. Same idea here, except it would be a deterrent. But then again, you and I aren't part of the crowd that just looks for things to blame Mason for. - jmatchett383
I would assume that a goalie would see his pads all the time while playing. Even if it's just peripheral vision. And when it's a scramble in front of the net you are absolutely going to see your own gear. I just put it up there with a pre-game meal routine, you know what works for you... Don't screw with it if it works... - FlyersGrace

No Show Joe uses all white (stick/tape) because he thinks it makes it harder. It appears to work during the regular season, but come playoffs it doesnt help much

I disagree. In a low scramble it might be harder for some goalies to pick up the puck while wearing black pads. - Scoob
Malcolm Subban has played with black pads since juniors.
His d-man Torey Krug does't care for them...“If you’re a defenseman battling in front, if there’s a loose puck, sometimes you can’t find it. For forwards, they can’t find the puck. Even for the goalie, if they’re looking to cover it, I feel like it would be a little bit difficult.”

That's why I said "some"
Goalies are weirder than regular players. My point was don't force colors on their equipment. Just let them use the color(s) with which they are most comfortable.
Confidence and the mental aspects of sport matter a great deal. If you think something is important and you feel more confident with something, then it truly does matter. It matters a great deal. If you're the most comfortable and confident with white tape on your stick versus black tape, then you better dam well have white tape on there.

So many microaggressions in here, I don't know where to begin.
Anyone looked at the schedule in detail? October seems like a brutal month.
I prefer going to the afternoon games, so the dates I have circled are Calgary on 11/18, St Louis on 1/6, Ottawa on 2/3, and Winnipeg on 3/10. - Feanor

Speaking of the schedule, if any STH have a pair of tix for a preseason game they're looking to get rid of, please let me know.
