Slavin played better than Rielly and Zaitsev last year. Deserved that paycheck and it's a good one for Carolina.
If anything, Rielly needs to show improvement next year if he's really to be considered a 1st pairing defenseman.
I'm not overly worried though. - Scabeh

By then, Eichel will be injured, Kane will be in jail and the Rochester Americans number one goalie will be playing in Buffalo. |

Don't get too excited......we're something like 12-371-1 in Buffalo in the last 20 years. Even when the Sabres sucked, which was often, they still handled us in their own barn. Obviously I am hoping for a change from this trend, but I doubt a sweep is coming.

Horrible move imo. Getting booted from the NYR defense should be a clue.

That's location worthy stuff right there. Somebody needs to claim it. I would but I really like my current one and I have "Boyle is better than Marleau." in reserve courtesy of Derpps over in the Leafs vs turds thread. - BlueBallz

if Girardi had had two years 3 mil each left on his deal the Rangers wouldn't have bought him out
Rangers just weren't going to continue with him at 5.5 mil cap hit for next 3 years |

My my.
The Leafs can't even beat that lineup.
And I agree, we need Markov. Just not at 6M.
And what the hell is Hudon doing there? |

Mike, i don't think the Leafs have to worry about Tampa making it into the playoffs, If the Lightening actually were to squeeze in there's always that spot usually reserved for the Habs. |

I don't really trust the show runners without the training wheels of the original material to prop them up. Most of the stuff they made entirely on their own were disasters (The Dornescapades and weird sexposition). |

The Atlantic is really hard to predict this year.
Imo, any of Tampa, Florida, Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa and Boston could win the division, make the playoffs or miss them.
Tampa didn't exactly solve their defensive issues and they will need to stay healthy this time (I'm looking at you Stamkos!). Maybe Sergachev makes the the team but I doubt he'll have a considerable impact right away.
Toronto still has one of the worst defensive unit in the NHL unless one or many young players have an impact, their forward group is down right excellent though and will be hard to contain.
Florida is basically the same team as last year, they'll have to prove it was a "down year" for them but if things go the right way, they have good players at every position.
Montreal is more or less the same team as last year. Alot will depend on how Galchenyuk and Drouin perform and if either ends up playing centre. Their defense is decent and with Price in there, they'll compete every night but without the right offensive support, they could miss the playoffs... If things go right, they could compete for division title.
Boston had a strong finish to last year and have young players coming in that will help them, especially on defense with McAvoy and Carlo who are excellent. A full year of those two will help alot. They're also pretty dangerous offensively so if Rask has a good season....
Ottawa has a good team overall. Karlsson is amazing and they have enough depth offensively to be considered a competitive team.... if Andersen/Condon plays well enough to keep them in the game. Kyle Turris is also underrated as balls around here.
Should be a fun season. |

I'll never count out a Habs team with a healthy Carey Price but Tampa or Boston could easily slide into the playoff spot the senaturds fluked their way into last season. |
