The St. Louis Blues have reached a five-year deal, 27.5 million deal with Colton Parayko to avoid arbitration - BashCH

Funny how the owners are locking out the players because they keep giving them bad contracts.
EDIT : And every team will be on lockout except for the Habs since lockouts will be illegal once Quebec solidaire is in power. |

Parayko isn't average, and he is still young so there is still room to grow. Good deal for both sides. Shattenkirk won't be missed.
Bad contracts are more like Marleau and Shaw |

Don't think he'll sign at 2M$ per...probably more around 3-3.5 (depending on the season he'll get this year).
I'd try to flip him at the deadline for a 1st/2x2nds...but I doubt MB has the balls to do it. |

Reeves fetched a 1st, Eller two 2nds...I think Plek is a lot better than both those guys.
Just look at what Arizona got for Hanzal... |

Well, Eller isn't finished...he just never started to be good.
Plek had 1 bad season, we'll see what he can do this year. He's still an OK player and I think he has value for a team that aims for the cup and are looking for a good defensive center. |

Nobody liked 2 years at 6M but he isn't that bad. I expect a bounce back season... and if MB is smart is flips at deadline as was suggested... |

oh yes he is.
I fully expect him to have a good year since he needs a new contract.
instead of playing 2 good games in January, he'll play 4 or 5. |

If Bergevin is intelligent (and that's a big if), this a win-win. If he's as done as you think, he plays this year and then is done. If he has a good year like I think he will, trade him for assets at deadline.
The only mistake to be made here is to re-sign him before the summer. If he comes back as a FA at 2M or so after a good season and MB has gotten assets for him, then so be it. And that'll be his salary after this season because there isn't a team out there that will give him any more after the year he just had. |

Or trade him right now for assets and retain salary (they have the space). |

I don't think this is a bad idea, But then who plays 3C?
And after the year he just had, what will be market value for him? |

no he won't trade him at the deadline. just like he didn't trade Radulov at the trade deadline even if he knew he would probably not be able to sign him,
he'll keep Plek because they have a chance if they're in the playoffs. you know? once you're in everyone has the same chance and all that bs?

#FIREMB - fidopro
Trading away a 3C if Hudon proves he can play at this level is not in the same ballpark as trading your best player. And the #FIREMB stuff is entirely premature. Part of the problem in MTL has been changing management every damn 4 years. Can we let the man learn from the few mistakes he's made instead of firing him to hire another rookie who will be mistake prone. Unless you have a GM already lined up that will actually without a doubt be better? (Kind of like how ppl wanted Therrien fired last summer but keeping him allowed MB to get Julien) |

he never did anything in the playoffs, like Markov btw. never brought his game to the next level.
why in hell would a contender trade for him if they're serious about winning it?!? |

If there's one guy who's all for patience and stability it's me. ask around, I backed MB AND MT for a very long time exactly for that reason.
but there's a limit to my patience. if you cannot find a #1C in 5 years, GTFO! |
