Capfriendly doesn't show Hart and Bunnaman as sliding contracts. i think they have less than 43

As a longtime Flyers fan, I could not be more pleased to see Brad Marsh back with the Flyers organization.

I grew up with those mid-80's Flyers teams and Brad Marsh was an absolute bulwark with those teams and this organization.

They have them as potentially sliding.

So it looks like everyone is signed except the draft picks. I am thinking we should see a quiet period soon after Patrick signs since we now know the basic framework of his deal.

Yup, Patrick will end up getting the same max deal as Hischier and I'm guessing Frost gets something similar to Konecny or Rubtsov.

Other than that, I really think it's going to quiet until camp begins.

No doubt. I got a smoker a little over a month ago and it's been great using it every weekend.

Should be an interesting year for the tenders.....Hextall has assembled some intriguing prospects and you have to think one will distance himself from the pack in the next year or two....I'm sure that's what the Flyers are hoping for.

Looking forward to seeing them in two years, when they're 25 years of age, each.

Honestly, looking at their total body of work, I don't believe either one has done enough to deserve a full time NHL job. Their ages are irrelevant.

Stolarz has been very streaky at the AHL level and while he has played well when called up, it is an extremely small sample size and needs to be taken with a grain of salt. He is also coming off a serious, season ending injury.

Lyon has all of one year of pro experience in which he too was up and down and his season also ended with an injury.

Maybe they prove me wrong, and I hope they do, but at this point, neither has shown me enough to say that they are ready to be NHL goaltenders.

Edit: I know the team in front of them often did not play well defensively, but that isn't enough to change the underlying fact that their numbers just weren't that impressive when compared to the rest of the league.

GAA
Lyon was 28th
Stolarz was 33rd

SV%
Lyon was 18th
Stolarz was 20th

They need to show more.

I think in a more structured, defensive system both goalies would have more impressive and consistent numbers. I really don't think they're representative of how good either goalie really is. Stolarz played well when he had his chances, but did show his inexperience a couple times.

Agreed. A more seasoned goalie would have feigned an injury to ensure that Eric Semborski could have had his 24.5 seconds in net.

Let me guess, 925K cap hit using bonus cushion and a 3.775M AAV?

You may well be right, but, coming off a serious injury, I think it's best he at least starts the season in the AHL. At some point, either Neuvirth will get hurt or another team will lose a goalie or 2 and the Flyers could move Neuvirth then. Either way, I think Stolarz as long as he is healthy and playing well, will get some NHL games in this season.

I guess I should have been more specific. When it comes to Stolarz, I do think he has a future as an NHL goalie. However, he has shown me nothing as of yet that makes me think he will be a top notch starting goalie. For that, my money is still on Sandstrom or Hart.

So pretty much everyone who will have a shot at the opening night roster is signed.

Commence summer doldrums.
