Buddy who is about 6 years older and just cracked the same landmark that Brown did in his rookie season playing against other teams' top lines?
Definitely the same thing - lumlums
Exactly.
Brown scored similar to Byron, who at 28 went from averaging like 8g 18pts to scoring what a rookie 5 years younger did while playing shutdown mins getting no offensive zone starts.
He's totally better. |

He's got a big shot, size and speed, I guess the coaching staff doesn't like his decision making ability? - W_1
I could see that and he was only 19. Future could be bright for the kid. He has all the tools for it imo.

This is just silliness. He's got to be trying to get a rise out of Leaf fans...or he's solidly on hallucinogens...
The comparisons don't even make any sense - W_1

If you leave out several of the other team top players and compare your captain and top winger to a rookie winger who played less than 10games on the 4th line then you got issues. |

Is signing Draisaitl to a big contract part of your success or failure? What's the general consensus by fans? - W_1
Totally. He's a driver. RnH, Lucic and Maroon are not. We need to develop a 2 pronged attack. He is a very special player. |

Everyone is pretty jealous of that duo..
I think it will make the Leafs the under dog, which makes for a more Hollywood ending when the Leafs beat them. |

Yeah? don't know if either the Leafs or Oilers making it to the finals anytime soon is that much of a lock. I hope so, but you never know. |

Yeah, I just see a few too many holes and a somewhat incompleteness to the core of both teams. I know the Penguins just won 2 in a row but I think Chicago had the near perfect team. I suppose you can get by without a few pieces when you have a centre like McDavid or Mathews, but I don't see the solid defensive cores. |

I think the "new NHL" is where teams win with holes. Special players make teams pay the price for mistakes, add goaltending and health...you can raise the Cup. |

There's no question that Price is better, but at double the cost? Heck, at the moment we have Andersen and JvR for less than Price. (I could have also said Andersen and Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Brown... but that kinda misses the point )
EDIT: I also loves how he compares their captain to our rookie fourth liner - lumlums
For what it's worth Lums.
It's an interesting debate but I could easily argue that Price probably has, like most superstar player, a bigger influence on his team's success than Andersen and JVR together for the Leafs .
And that twitter post was moronic but so was the post it responded to claiming the Habs have Weber, Price, Drouin and that's "it". |

I could concede that. I would deal Andersen + JVR for Price easily...oh wait...10.5 mill...I change my mind.
Price is worth every penny, it's just that you can't keep players like Matthews, Nylander, and Marner, if you pay your goalie Price money. Because of that, I'll keep Andersen and package JVR for D. |

Oh Toronto is in another situation completely than Montreal.
But if you ask me, hypothetically, if somehow Toronto swapped Andersen and JVR for Price tomorrow, they wouldn't be in a worst spot money wise, and they'd obviously be an instantly better team.
I wouldn't trade Price for Andersen and JVR... not even close.
Again though, this just pointless summer talk as this is an impossible scenario.
Can't wait for the season to start and we're in July! |
