I really don't think there's a deal there for our two teams. Maybe if Leafs take draft picks/prospects, and then flip those assets for a D that fits what we need...maybe. But you guys just don't have what we need. Contact the Canes or something, have them pony up a RD in a 3-way deal, then you can get your Bozak. []

You can actually get quite a bit better defensively by changing systems and bringing in better defensive forwards.

It's not all on the 6 defensemen.

Continue to coach the kids about the defensive side of the game and have good transitioning dmen.

Umm Bozak > Duchene. Probably. If not, it's very close and we already have Matthews and Kadri. Trading for Duchene(given the high asking price) would be ridiculous. He'd be our 3rd line center who doesn't quite fit into that role.

Bozak will be part of the TML contending teams over the next 1-5 years. After that we will still be contenders but Bozak might not be around or he'll fade away as a cheap 4th line center.

It would be an amazing addition. But don't take the comments section as the feelings of the organization(aka real hockey people). Ekblad is still a kid. He's had some noggin issues. But truly, I frequent the TML threads and the idiots in here are constantly overvaluing(Freddy the Goat) or undervaluing(Tyler the BeauSac) players.

I would never trade one of the big three for an Ekblad, but I might trade Connor Brown + random stuff for Ekblad.

Pouliet is trending to bust. He'll be lucky to be #7 on the pens.

I'm not certain maatta is much of an upgrade on marincin.

If Florida would do a one for one for marner or nylander I'd say take your pick. Reality it would be nyland or marner + maybe ++ with the ridiculous cost of dman especially right handed. Getting a team to take the final year of Joffrey Lupul’s contract would likely cost the Leafs a high draft pick, clearing out Eric Fehr’s $2 Million cap hit make necessitate a prospect or lower pick going the other way.

Which part do you disagree with the fact that it would cost more than nylander or marner to get ekblad or that he'd be one of the most expensive dman to trade for or both? 21 year old 6'4 right shot dman who's solid defensively with a big shot. 1st overall pick and has already been an all star. Who else has that resume. Locked up for 8 years at what will be a bargain if he doesn't turn into Phaneuf.
