Puts a rather large hole in our D, & we don't need wingers. I'd rather keep Maatta & work out something for Bozak. We have a couple of young guys coming through to replace Horny.

Maata and pouliot aren't very good. Dermott rosen or borgman would probably make it over pouliot and maybe even maata. Not to mention both left shot dmen. Doesn't help the leafs at all. I'd rather trade jvr and bozak or picks than either of those guys.

I'm not certain maatta is much of an upgrade on marincin.

I really don't know how a deal like this would work. The negative about Bozak is him being a UFA after this year, so while on paper he's worth a decent amount, his contract makes things complicated.

I think realistically if you're trying to maximize return while dumping space, you're limited to a pick/prospect package. If he had a few years left on his contract, I'd say a late 1st round pick would be a good return.

The Pens though would have to move pieces to another team in similar move due to their cap situation.

I'd send a 2nd and an above average prospect. The Pens have a couple of good goalie prospects, too. Again, this is all on if you're simply trying to dump space.

I was watching some Leafs highlights from this past season. Choice tasters from the super rookies. That was one tasty season, better than anyone could imagine. I am tweaking for the new season, I want it to start now.

Teams need to sacrifice depth in one area to strengthen another. I'm not saying Maatta is the answer to your defense, but I think you need to add one more legit top-four dman. Your Larsson if you will.

He would be a hard player to deal and get a fair return. He's a good all around center which is hard to find but hes no star player. Who evers team he is on will understand his value but I do find it hard to see other gm's give fair value back. He's the type of player you just keep because of that fact. Hell he's not afraid to stick up for teammates which he's shown a number of times last year. Pretty sure that's what changed a lot of haters minds in leaf land.

Maatta seems like the closest fit .... except he didn't look good in the playoffs and doesn't have good underlying #'s. Seems like injuries may have slowed him down.
