Yeah i know its exciting. I really like Nylander, probably my favourite leaf actually. But RNH had 76 points in his first 102 games Nylander has 74 in his first 103. So while its easy to compare Nylander to Henricks first few seasons, also easy to compare him to a guy like RNH

Matthews is a better player no question, Nylander is my favourite to watch play. Shot, skating, passing everything is exciting about how he plays. Matthews is an all around better player though.

Oh I love Willie too...a little soft compared to AM..obviously Am's heavier.

You know I'm not a fan of soft hockey players...so he's gotta do the other things very well

Nylander is my favourite. Love watching him with the puck. A thing of beauty

When he moves to C we are going to see how good he really is.

Got to be great in our end...just follow how AM is progressing and he'll be fine.

He's a lot better in his own end then people give him credit for

He played center at the worlds and dominated. The kid possesses the puck better than anyone on the Leafs

As a C I mean...he's been ok...little soft but he's still young obviously. I think he'll be fine....as long as he's not Phil Kessel ( in our end ) I'll be ok.

If you mean soft by he dosnt hit? Most NHL players don't hit anymore.

Nylander is hard to take off the puck because of his skill and he can take it away just as easy...that's not soft to me.

25 years ago sure. We will call that soft because someone would just grab his head and drag him down to the ice

I wouldn't project Nylander as C just yet.
Lots to be expected of a top 2 C & no need to rush it.
Right now he is insulated playing the wing & no rush to change that.
Kadri at 2 C is very solid so ride with it. It allows the wing depth.

Seems like bozak is just keeping the spot warm at this point.

He’ll be insulated behind kadri and Matthews if they do move him over.

Even Kapanen hits....lots of hitting in the NHL...not sure what you mean "players don't hit anymore"....with Willie it's more in his own zone, where he's weaker on the wall trying to get out etc....love his Ozone play obviously.

Lot's of time to improve/mature etc...I'm not too worried about it...just what I noticed last year.

Maybe so but Nylander on the 3rd line is a waste IMO.
Think bigger i say & status quo & get that top 2 D hunt over with.

2 dynamic lines r hard to find nowadays..,,..

Really great hockey talk about Lil' J. I think he's got a 50/50 chance of either going back to Sweden or AHL.

He'd be 2nd...Kadri and his wingers ( whoever they are at that time ) would be the checking line I think.

leafs played 3 lines pretty much equally last year. bozak's line got the easy match-ups. would expect the same again this year, whether it's bozak or nylander on that line.

Whatever ppl say or think about a Tanev its still what the doctor ordered.
Young & fast dynamic forwards & a serious upside for winning sooner than expected is a beautiful thing. The rebuild fast tracked getting Matthews while the kids r on ELC's its not a bad thing to go all in. Whatever D is gotten at a price both teams like cannot be a bad thing if its remotely possible. The question is with no top 2 D in the system nor close to ready something has to give. Get Reilly his deserved partner & look out cuz serious contenders overnight.

Problem with Tanev is we can't pick the 50 games he'll play next year. Unless they sit him for the first 40 odd games of the year, he won't be around for the playoffs

50 games u don't get last year either.
When u have a top 2 minute muncher facing the best in the tough minutes ok
His offence is crap but offense is the last thing the Leafs need.

Just curious....
Who out there is available or could be pried away at what cost?

Way overpay - no deal. Marchenko, Timoshov a fifth and a turd for Tanev and he can be the 7th d and keep the mascot company.

Like Tanev or not i can understand that.
Considering his age 27 the contract & term & hard pressed to find comparables does not change the fact he has great value. What nobody here including myself is say what trade is fair. Using Larsson is not a good example. Each team has various assets & it becomes is there a fit & a deal there to be made. Like every team their players r higher thought of than what other teams r willing to pay. Now it comes full circle to the same thing being D is obviously the big need. Gotta give to get & is the time right IMO no. I don't see a Van To fit atm.

And 1 is a HOFer & was great in a cup run.
Idk how u can compare Bure to Nylander. Not even close.

- Nighthawk

No - I wasn't comparing Nylander to Bure, although their rookie stats are not too far apart. I was comparing Tanev to that Cheezeball of a d-man Harold Snepts.
