Age restriction only pertains to chl'ers. They can't leave their Chl team for something other than nhl until 20. But liligren not bound by that

Lil and his people told Niagara not to waste their pick that he wouldn't sign with them and he didn't.

He was drafted out of the SHL so he's not handcuffed to the dumb CHL/AHL transfer rules...specifically the age restriction...which makes him free to play in the SHL or AHL/Marlies now.....like Nylander did a couple years ago.

I know he has one year left on his SHL contract but I don't know if he's locked to them or not for next season. Don't know the transfer agreement rules with the SHL.

Agreed. Plus didn't he play for like 4 teams last year? A lot easier for development if he sticks with marlies and doesn't get up rooted every couple months.

He said that he was surprised by how professional it was here and the amount of training staff available! But with Rosen Borgman and him! Add Dermott and Neilson! he'll learn Babcock systems and the North American ice and game and will be probably sheltered in the process at first I imagine ?makes too much sense

Essentially Niagara was protecting themselves (wasting the pick) from teams like London, Windsor or Kitchener from drafting him and then paying him massive amounts under the table to wooo him into playing in the CHL.

Seems to be an advantage for sure.

Probably marlies, I think the contract sliding due to age makes sense to play him with the marlies. Get accustomed to North American play and the leafs style for the year and graduate to leafs next year

Looking forward to seeing the leafs in the falls, I hope I can get down to the gale centre to see some of it.

It would be cool to see, even if I am nowhere near a Leaf fan. Some buddies went down when they were here last year for camp. People started lining up at 6:00 in the morning to watch.

I want to try to go to something at least one of the days. I guess I'll have to wait to see what the schedule is going to be when they release it.

They said there will be practises and scrimmages and alumni game as well as activities for the fans
