I think trading Phil talk is absurd but just to add in....doesnt he have the same strict no trade list? What teams would he go to? What would we trade him for?
Doesnt make a ton of sense.... - YouMeAndDupuis9
It makes ZERO sense.
"Hey we need a winger for Sid and Geno so they don't have to carry the team."
*Pens acquire Kessel, win 2 cups back to back with him being a top 3 contributor in points in BOTH seasons and playoffs.*
"(frank), we need to trade Kessel to replace a 3C or maybe a top 4 D."
Get the (frank) out of here. Bunch of morons. |

Had a +24 goal differential at 5v5 with Malkin this season. You're wrong.
Pens aren't thin at LW with Guentzel and Rust capable of LW, Sheary, Hagelin, Scott Wilson.
They aren't thin at D either with Letang, Schultz, Dumo, Maatta, Cole, Hunwick. Their D-corp is coming into the season better than it was when they raised the cup last year.
They have ONE roster spot that needs filled, and that's 3C. Which isn't that important when you have guys like Sid, Malkin, Kessel putting up 70+ points, Letang and Sheary putting up 45-50+ points, and Schultz and Guentzel putting up 30-40+ points.
Sprong's production is in no way going to replace Kessel's 70 points. - j.boyd919
The number of times you've mentioned this in the span of one thread is too damn high! |

Neither cups happen without Kessel. 100% agree. - j.boyd919
X3. I don't know where this "trade Kessel" talk started. I know Cook did an opinion piece, but I heard this discussion well before that.
We might not like the last year or two of the Kessel deal, but I'm convinced we'll win at least one more cup with Kessel as a significant contributor. |

I agree. Phil is staying, at least for a while.
I keep trying to talk about possible 3C replacements, but I don't get much of a response. I guess everyone likes to argue about stuff that most likely won't happen.
EK is mentioning Anisimov is being shopped around. I don't think we can offer much to CHI for Anisimov, but what does everyone think about him? |

This team has given me reasons to be confident.
Having Sid and Geno doesn't hurt either. |

He's not much of an upgrade of Bonino. He put up 45 points riding on Kane and Panarin's coat tails on the 2nd line in Chicago. I'm not sure if he's the kind of guy we would want to be honest. |

I think he is about $4.5M / yr also & CHI is trying to free up cap space, so I don't think there is much we could trade to them to fit him in without losing something we need. If we just traded for him for just picks and/or prospects that would leave the Pens nearly without much cap room after siging our RFA's. |

Would anyone be opposed to signing Jiri Hudler? He's played center in the past and could be super cheap. Low Risk, high reward kinda signing. If he sucks, just scratch him. Probably can get him under 2mil. |

But as we've seen with our good friend Hainsey, that might be the last thing Mike Sullivan will chose to do |

I see him aging much more optimistically than Gunner. While Phat Phil's goal scoring won't be increasing anytime soon, I am a big believer in his underrated passing. I really do think he will still be effective going forward throughout the remainder of his contract. 50-60 is what I expect.

I've never liked Anisimov. Always looked like an unimpressive skill center who wasn't good enough to play a top 6 skill role (Sutter anyone?). He seemed to be doing well in Chicago though, so maybe I read this one wrong. Then again, he was on a dynamite line with Kane and Panarin. |

Rumour has it Mcdavid has a big problem with RNH. Must be a RNH problem and only a RNH problem - 668710
Actually it was probably Eberle, not RNH,hence trading him for McDavids best buddy's older brother... |

I still don't like game score. Blocked shots are way too weighted. - Victoro311
.05 per blocked shot is weighted too much for you? |
