Being able to spend to the cap doesn't mean sh!t if you don't spend it wisely. If you give out bad contract after bad contract, you get to the cap ceiling pretty quick and still don't have a team ready to contend.

100% IHM, the Islanders after signing CDH and Pelech aren't going to have that much left.

Haven't, and won't, pulled up the cap numbers so I don't know where they sit. But I don't see Pelech costing that much. CDH either. What do you see them paying CDH?

You have a good point. Every team has bad salaries, however NYR unloaded Stepan's big salary by trading him with a goalie they signed as a UFA and got a d man and 1st rd pick. Snow made a deal with a GM who he previously worked with and had to give up a 1st pick to unload Grabo. It is frustrating. And yes Cizikas and Clutter were signed for good money because Zippy wanted a banger line that he eventually wore down. Now Weight has two highly paid middle forwards.

Hey it is July and we can guess what this is team is going to look like for over two months.

4 to 5 million per. For CDH.

Looking at Slavin and others that's where the number is.

They've got about $7m tied up in the 4th line. Actually just 2 players on that line. That's absurd. But, that's Snow. We'll just have to wait and see what happens over the next 2 months.

Don't blame Zippy on the CC and Cal contracts.

Bottom Line is Snow will not trade JT. How many times has he had the oppurtunity to trade players whose contracts were up and he did nothing. This will be the same thing trust me. He will wait until the last possible minute tells all he tried to keep him and he will go for nothing. The story never gets old.
- kasperrko

Exactly! The Blackhawks knew they were gonna loose panarin two years from now so they traded him immediately. This guy knew he wasn't signing KO and let's him walk for nothing

JT will be playing in this season whether he's signed or not imho. Maybe not the whole season but he will be playing with or without a contract extension in an Islanders uniform. The Islanders are trying everything possible to sign this guy(as they should) and if it means waiting they will wait, because if you think about it he's really the one waiting for answers to make up his mind. If not, he would have said Im not signing and then the real shat hits the fan.
As far as the off ice Circus, He will have to deal with the media and the repetitive questions, but the other players will be behind the scenes going about business as usual. Will they be asked about it sure, but they aren't going to worry about something they have no control over. Its part of the game and others on the team have dealt with the very same issue, Badd, Leddy JB to name a few, again its part of the business end of the game imho. I wouldn't worry to much about that as far as JT's or the rest of the teams on ice performance. Although if they fail again to make the PO's its a perfect excuse for Garth to use.

Right. This team has such a stable locker room that it won't be a distraction at all

Seriously, you all need to relax, including Dan. JT is not leaving the team. He wants to know where the team is going to be. It's his right. You play this through and wait until it's resolved. He won't leave though. And this team is a playoff roster. And yes they will be better than the Rangers this season in the end. Geez, chill the hell out.
- bgainesDM

I'm being realistic, the longer it goes the less of a return. Im not fine with a B level prospect and a one. It's not my job to chill out, its my job to hold this organization accountable.

Stamkos out all year among other injuries did not help. Tampa has had a lot more playoff success than the Islanders.

Because they got better. Added a good 2 way Center in Kruger. Added a good 2 way forward in Josh Joris. They have a young fast puck moving defense that can only get better with the addition of TVR. Darling gives them better gTing than they got last year without question. They can be a surprises this year imho.

Also Tampa has a lot of offensive talent even without Drouin.

And added perhaps the best d prospect in hockey who will learn from Hedman

This team isn't better than Columbus the pens or caps, I thi k they are better than the rangers devil's and canes although canes are much improved. Wc sucks it's time to be a team that's in 15 games left in the season and they aren't there yet. Gaines I'm giving you my avatar cause you're (frank)ing delusional, Toronto not making the playoffs and Tampa being 50/50. Toronto is my pick to win that division honestly and Tampa is right there I think Florida has a bounce back too
- Upstate_isles

When I say Tampa 50/50 I mean a series against them can go either way.
Why the hell should anybody be scared of the Caps in the playoffs? Gimmie one good reason. Neither Trotz nor Ovi have what it takes to ever get past the 2nd round. That's the Caps' ceiling. Being realistic, the ceiling for the Isles is much higher.
Why do I think this?

A) Pulock will get more goals than Hamonic ever did and will boost the PP which will schematically be boosted with new staff.
B) Eberle scoring more points than Strome
C) The BLT line thriving again this time with a JT that will bounce back
D) No premature benching of youngsters, thus boosting their confidence in play
E) Full year of Ho-Sang
F) A more humble Halak and No more than 40 games for Greiss
The opposite of those are what had us missing the playoffs by only a point.

I'd just love to know how to chill out as an Isles fan after everything we've been through.
