You must be friends with Joey's friend too.

Tell me why he's signing? Don't just tell me he's signing.

The Rangers will be 100 X's better than the Islanders once JT is their 1st line center.

- nyisles7

He's said numerous times he wants to stay. He's said numerous times he wants to finish his career. He, like us fans though, wants certainty on where the Islanders are playing. Let me ask you this, would you still root for this team if they move to a different state/country? Same applies to players and contracts.

They are a bubble team, just like they have been for years.
- JimmyP

100% correct. There is no consistent improvement with this team. It's 1 step forward 3 steps back. Unfortunately it isn't changing with Snow in charge.

What is he suppose to say? I want to leave? come on your smarter than that. I think?

He wants to win a Stanley Cup, he doesn't give a shat whether it's in NY with the Rangers or in Toronto with the Leafs. Thats the bottom line. Can he win with The Islanders and will there be stability once and for all with this circus of an organization.

When your making 10 plus million a year your living well no matter where you are. Besides he can live where ever he wants in the off season.

Now I hope to hell they sign him. If they don't Im finding a new team because the bS will just go on and on and on.

What success did Tampa have last year?
- bgainesDM

Stamkos out all year among other injuries did not help. Tampa has had a lot more playoff success than the Islanders.

Rangers have Anderson so no need for JT.

Anybody can beat anybody. People talk about the last 11 years and that's fine. I'm talking about the here and now. With the exception of last year, they've had back-to-back 100 point seasons WITH a crappy coach and crappy PP system. Given that that has no where to go but up at this point and with Pulock scoring more goals than Hamonic and Eberle getting more points than Strome, I think you can make the case for a deep playoff run. Is it really that hard for people to see this?
- bgainesDM

Yes, I haven't drank as much Kool-Aidâ„¢ as you. 100 point season is no big deal anymore. The three point games watered it down. Anybody can beat anybody is the same argument that has suckers losing money on bad bets all the time. It's juvenile reasoning. The team as it currently stands is in the same situation it has been for the past 4 years. They are bubble team that will be ousted in the first round if they get in.

Question for you what place dos the Islanders come in in the Metro and then the conference? Remember Tampa had an injury riddled off year and the Hurricanes quietly improved their team a lot this off season.

really would like your predictions here.

I would definitely put him up there as top ten. Could be a little better in certain areas but offensively he is easily top 10, closer to top 5.

Speaking of that presidents trophy winning argument in the past, only 1 team has won the cup after clinching the presidents trophy in a full 82-game regular season in the last 11 years. On the other hand, at least 3 teams in the wildcard spot have clinched the cup finals in the last 11 years.
You really think this team can't beat the Capitals, Leafs(if they even get in this year, which I don't think they will), Rangers, Habs, or even Blue Jackets in the playoffs?
That's not kool-aid. That's me being a realist, and this is coming from a fan who has never picked this team to make the cup finals during my existence.

I'm not giving Tampa a pass, I think they'll get a divisional spot and I do think Stamkos will get hurt again, but this time Yzerman will correct that mistake by trading for depth this time. Killorn is a question mark. And I think the loss of Drouin can hurt them as well. I think the Canes will miss the playoffs again. Ottawa is in danger in the regular season.
Oilers are my lock to go to the finals in the West.
Unless something drastic happens in training camp for other teams, I'm picking Pittsburgh to go in and win their 3rd straight. Again, anything can happen prior to the season, but this is where I stand right now.

Ok, I'll bite. In what way shape or form are they "damn close" to the Penguins?

Crosby JT
Malkin Eberle
Kessel Lee
Hagelin Ladd (?)
Hornqvist Bailey(?)

Then you can get into their youngsters vs the Isles & defense.

Capitals - Maybe (only because they always play them tough)
Leafs - Yes (but that will depend on how their young guns play this year)
Rangers - 60-40% (Rangers aren't that great this year. Sorry MDW, my opinion)
Habs - Yes (don't think they'll make the playoffs)
CBJ - No

Pens - No
TB - No
Carolina - No

Thanks for that.
So now can you answer the question, Where will the Islanders place in the Metro and the Conference?
