Yeah, I'm one of the biggest Bailey haters. I wouldn't mind him walking at the end of the season. I'd rather see him traded, but Snow will never trade his boy.
- JimmyP

I'm ok with trading him if Ho-Sang can up his defensive game quick during the season.

I don't think i ever said that players stayed away from the Isles because of the NVMC and that alone. Clearly there are other factors. I just think that those other factors were far more negative than they are now. I don't see the same "train wreck" that I saw in 2008, 2009 or so when I look at the team now. Are the Isles a "model franchise"? No. But they aren't the circus show that they were five years ago, despite the popular perception they are. But as you said, we agree to disagree.
- Jethro09

You didn't literally say "that alone" but I was under the impression you were saying or implying that was one of the larger If not largest negative contrubutors. Maybe I read you wrong? I think players and the league for that matter need to see consistency for a few years. We (they) haven't seen that yet. Striving for mediocrity is not what I think players are looking for from a perspective team. I don't see Snow ever "going for it". I believe most players agree. Just my opinion though I will say I don't see it as being even debatable. He hasn't and there's always an excuse as to why. That well ran dry ages ago for me and probably players I'm guessing.

Well he was sexually abused by his parents as a kid so I'm sure that doesn't help him out emotionally

A month ago, there were people on here that wanted to give the farm away for this guy. Now people are starting to realize that he's not a superstar. He's a second line center. At best. But if they don't add Duchene, they're not doing enough to win now and convince JT to stay?

The Isles can't get a**-raped in a deal with COL to bring Duchene in just because it may make JT happy. I'd still love to add him, but for a price commensurate with what Duchene actually is, not what Sakic wants the league to believe he is and worth.

One question and it's important if your a player, where will the Islanders be playing in 2/3 years? You know with full certainty? So was it when they were at the coliseum the last 6 ish years. Why would someone want to come here set there roots here buy a home to be picked up and have to move because BC doesn't want the Islanders, The NVMC isn't a viable site and the Belmont Arena or Queens proposals ( which are merely dreams at this point ) are not approved. So on the Arena front The Islanders are in the same predicament as when they were at NVMC.

Also when you have a ( backup goalie as ) GM that keeps 3 goalies and basically pisses off his starter to a point where the agent goes public with his and the players total dislike with the situation, these are the things other players and agents pay attention to and give the Islanders a bad rap. Obviously the inconsistant PO appearances etc. are obvious reasons the Islanders don't gain respect in the NHL community as well.

This of course is my opinion, and I'm always wrong so there's that.

Fake news

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chester_Bennington

Wikipedia is consistent with the article I read. When he was 7, an older friend raped him. It continued until he was 13. No mention of his parents doing it, too.

well the article specifically says he worked out his defensive game with Brent Thompson in Bridgeport and is working with Gomez on his ability to distribute the park and we're to be without the puck in the o zone but that's what I got out of it

Could be I read this but I guess he doesn't specify who did the raping
Bennington was open about his troubled life, including an introduction to smoking pot after his parents divorced when he was 11, which escalated to cocaine and methamphetamine use.
He also suffered sexual abuse as a child, he said.
"When I was young, getting beaten up and pretty much raped was no fun," he told The Guardian in 2011. "No one wants that to happen to you and honestly, I don't remember when it started."

It then goes back to him seeing pics of himself at that age at his mom's and says it all came back, I assumed it was all connected without really caring enough to research

nearing the end of july and I haven't seen enough done with this team to convince me to change my mind and spend my money to watch them next season. There's a giant hole in the lineup that needs to be filled with a legit talent as the second line center.

if they do nothing, oh well. I'm not going to subscribe to the center ice package until the team is worth watching again.

The point I was trying to make is that deterrent was b/c of the bad press.. mainly from that clown Larry Brooks. The player who actually played at the NVMC DID like playing there.. I have spoken to a few of them about it. It was an old building, but the amenities if the Home Locker were top notch. They loved the sound in the building when it was packed. The did like that it was fairly close to their homes and easy to get to.. they liked the History of the 4 cups in the building. The nickname "fort Never Lose" in it's hey day.

We had a lot of guys turn down contracts b/c of the building, management, etc. That is 100% accurate. We also had a lot of guys who came here begrudgingly and then ended up re-signing and staying long term. (Nabby, Boychuk, Leddy, etc.)....

- niteislander

This was contingent on them making the playoffs. The regular season hardly sold out, minus a few games during the year.

I do think if the Isles stayed at NVMC, they would have had to become a perennial winner and go DEEP into the playoffs for at least 5 years in a row to fix attendance problem.
