No excuses. That was the same team that went all the way to the ECF in 7 games vs. A red hot Pens team without Stamkos and Bishop. Yzerman screwed up this year too. Just admit it. - bgainesDM
He paid too much for girardi but this team is winning the Atlantic |

The more clips I see of Duchene the last I want him on the Isles. |

Franz went from the most under-rated player in the NHL to the most over-rated. He was getting worse every year. That contract is going to haunt Detroit. He wasn't very good last year for them and I will NEVER forget when out "shut down" Selke candidate let Kuznetsov walk by him to score the game winner against the capitals in game 7. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Be9lrCLG3g - niteislander
Could not agree more. To be fair, Frans was hurt during that game 7 just like Ladd was hurt for the Isles. |

I loved him and agree that we probably could have used him last year, but I want no part of him for that contract. He is definitely in decline and that is a lot of money for a long time. |

He was a good player, but Frans was never this shutdown center many thought he was. If the game turned just a little bit rough, Frans was useless. I would have liked to trade Frans a few years ago before losing him for nothing. |

FA contacts typically haunt the signing team at one point but not JB, or Ladds, contracts they are golden.
There isn't a center on the Islanders that can play a two way game at center, FOs included better than Franz currently, JT included. Tell me I wrong. |

OF course Jimmy, he's been trained on what to say to the media by Brisson since he was 15 years old. Most players are, especially the highly talented players who are going to be taken with the first 5 picks in a draft. - nyisles7
There are guys that will open up more despite media coaching. My point was since he's been so consistent its impossible to know what he's really thinking. |

Jt is as good defensively or very close and similar in faceoffs too, add in jts offense and he is a better two way player. He was also better on pk then frans. |

Toronto defense is still iffy but they are a playoff team unless they all have sophomore slumps |

I'm hoping Beau will develop into a nice two way center. |

Yea true but they score a ton not that scoring wins cups usually. I think Matthews and nylander are so good may not see the slumps at least not matthews |

Isn't Beau a winger? The Isles web site has him listed as a center, but several other hockey sites have him as a left winger. |

They'd better hope not. I really don't see all of them slumping. While their defense is iffy, they could still pull off a trade to shore it up. Never underestimate ol' Uncle Lou pulling a rabbit out of Snow's ass. |

Yes he makes moves and as far as slumps go this is really Matthews 3rd pro season |
