Oh, wut.

That whole Adirondack team got dismantled. Several of the player got in trouble in town. Management lost control.

It was a full on dumpster fire. Rumor is Holmgren drove up and basically fired everyone himself.

Not sure Maroon's involvement but Flyers got rid of everything. Even threw the pucks out.

Did they ever come clean about why he was kicked off the Phantoms?

Clashes with Greg Gilbert boiled over, combined with some off-ice stuff at the time. It was a wake up call to him and, to his credit, he heeded it.

Fast forward to getting fed pucks from McJesus and potting 27. Not too shabby.

Matthew Strome: less than, greater than, or equal to Radovan Somik?

He actually admitted to murdering all 4 of them... Sad.

Cosmo DiNardo has “confessed to his participation or commission” in the killings of the four missing men in exchange for a promise from prosecutors that they would not pursue the death penalty, DiNardo’s defense attorney told reporters outside the Bucks County Courthouse late Thursday afternoon.

Radovan Somik actually played in the NHL. There's no guarantee that Matt Strome makes it to the NHL. His ceiling is higher than where Somik topped out, but there's no guarantee that he sees that ceiling.

Can't disagree with anything you wrote. But, as I said in today's blog, if Holmström and Maroon (who was considered overweight as well as a downright poor skater) could overcome their severe skating deficiencies enough to be NHL contributors, Strome can do it, too.
- bmeltzer

I am of the belief that Strome will do just fine when he makes it to the NHL

I remember he was one guy that everyone kept hoping would eventually come over. Wasn't he in their system for like 5+ years before finally coming over in '04?

I wish I still had one of the old yearbooks from back then. All I remember was his haircut was....interesting.

I really don't remember hearing of him prior to his days with the Flyers. My impression of Somik was that he was ultra conservative in his play style. A "don't get beat at all costs" kind of guy. If I remember right, Hitch really liked him.

I heard he thought about cutting his right leg off to keep them away.

It's a minimum of 20 years before they can execute him in PA iirc.

late on this, but I read certain guys disappeared before others. so he didn't necessarily have to murder all of them at once. I've been reading really crazy stories on the internet too, some involve the kid that got beat up at temple not too long ago.
- Ftown19125

It does go back to the temple beating. The 4 murdered boys were either there or knew information regarding it.

I liked him. I think you're right on with his play, he was definitely not a scorer but played hard in the defensive zone.
I remember being of bummed that he didn't come back after the lockout.

Doesn't matter..
As part of his plea bargain he confessed to the crime in exchange for the state not pursuing the death penalty

I'm surprised that is still an effective negotiating tactic in this state. When was the last time someone was executed? 1999 I think?
