Kind of a funny question to ponder but do you think Patrick wanted to go to the Flyers over the Devils?
I have this theory he had the hernia surgery before the draft, not only to be ready for camp, but also to maybe scare off the Devils away from drafting him.

That is a helluva chance to take, especially if he scared off other teams. I doubt it went down that way, but its nice to think about anyway.

Well at the draft they said he told Nico he wanted him to go #1. I don't see why a player would rather go to the Devils right now. I doubt he would do anything about his health to make that happen though |

IMO, as someone who has followed the team since the mid 70s, this is the deepest the farm system has ever been. - BiggE
I to don't remember a time when the prospect pool was so deep....but I do wonder with the internet and social media we simply have more information about the prospects. |

He also told Hakstol in the behind the scenes footage that he wanted to end up in Philly all along. Agreed that his surgery had nothing to do with it. |

Read an interesting article on Frost yesterday that mentioned he felt Philadelphia and Chicago were the most interested in him. I wonder if Chicago traded back to 29 thinking they could get him there. May also of factored in on when Hextall decided to finalize the deal. |

Oh absolutely. Obviously had the surgery to avoid being drafted by the Devils. |

I heard he thought about cutting his right leg off to keep them away. |

It's exciting to be a Flyers fan. Getting Patrick was a gift. They have some real character guys coming up on the wings(Brunnamen, Allison, Ratcliff, Strome) to go with guys like Konecny, maybe weal. We have some center depth coming in Frost, Rubstov, Voroborey. The defense pipeline has talent that is coming to the NHL and some still in the AHL and they have great goalie depth now too.
Hextall did all this while still trying to be competitive and cleaning up the cap situation. They didn't need to tank 5 seasons and put out a team of basically inferior players. |

Well he was going to have the surgery no matter what. So maybe doing it before the draft pushed the Devils decision to take Hischier.
I said it was just a theory.
And it was also a little more tongue in cheek.

I share in your excitement and outlook, but lets not spike the football before any of these players step on the ice. |

Well said..
I cant remember a time when I was this excited about the offensive , defensive and goaltending prospects but they are still just that..unproven prospects.
I hope in 2-3 years we are talking about how dominant our young team is. |

I am not spiking poop.
But it's ok to be excited. The team now is in a better spot then it was 5 years ago. And you can see a vision that hextall has for the team. |
