Why can't you understand that Left and Right defensive positions are not interchangeable???
Skjei is not going to be our #1 RHD. He may be our #1 LHD, and while Mac is on the contract he is, we could have a very formidable D corp. Or, Mac could be traded, because he is a known commodity on a great contract.
Personally, I'd like to let it ride this year and see what our boys can produce. We have a number of good looking prospects for the first time in quite some time. Don't mortgage the future just to take a run before Hank is gone. I'd love to see him win as much as any, but making big moves in the summer doesn't guarantee anything. Trading away all your good young players guarantees long term misery.

It is a common misconception that there's no difference between which side a defensemen plays, NOT true. Some players can play both but it's not easy, totally different angle & set up between playing the left or playing the right.

This isn't just my guess, but by the time McD contract is up I need 2 years either McD or Skjei won't be here, one will be moved.

True, but I think it had more to do with Babcock getting through to him and convincing him to commit to being one the better 2 way centers in the league. Not saying he's there yet, but if he can build on last season...
Kadri was a different player last year. Dependable, level-headed, positionally sound, he actually played to make the team better instead of just himself. And this is coming from someone who could not stand the kid in his first few seasons. He used to be a punk.

I doubt any team in a salary cap era is going to offer-sheet a RFA since it ties up such a large percentage of the cap. It just doesn't make sense.
The last guy we offer sheeted still owes us, so the Rangers get Duchene and The Avs get Staal. Problem solved and debt repaid!
