Don't they already have enough fringe NHL players signed? I mean, how many guys do they want battling for 1-2 spots on the roster? - BashCH
At the center ice position... as many as is needed to find the right guy, really. |

I'm not panicked personally, I was just arguing the label more than anything. When I think great puck mover, the first one who comes to mind is Subban. Yeah I know he holds it too long sometimes to a teams detriment, but in terms of raw puck moving skills he has great skating mobility and makes amazing breakaway passes. Don't get me wrong this was no knock on Weber, I just don't consider that label correct for him. Yeah I agree we don't have to worry about getting a PMD, although if we don't resign Markov/do something interesting our team is at best equal to last years. - apex123

they have absolutely no confidence in their rookies. Maybe they are right not to, but it doesn't make them look very good as management |

Exactly...their development is a joke, they always end up signing a veteran instead of trusting their prospects... |

I keep hoping they'll give young players a chance and live with their mistakes so they can learn.... you know.... like in every job ever in the world?
But they just don't.
Resulting in things like Galchenyuk "not a centre" anymore. |

If Da Costa signs in Montreal, we can pretty much say that, aside of Drouin, the Habs 2017's offseason is officially du gros caca mou. |

I'm still having troubles understanding how we failed to sign Radulov.
I'm still a little pissed about that one. |

"Oh man, wouldn't want to try him at center, let's play him wing for 3 years"
"Alright, now let's try him at center after 3 seasons"
"OH MY GOD ERRORS, GET HIM BACK ON THE WING!!!!" |

Yeah...but there wasn't much out there on the UFA market...
At this point, I expect them to start the year with Danault, Plekanec, Shaw and Mitchell as centers, which is poopty as poop can be. Price will allow them to reach the playoffs if healthy, and then first round exit.
Rinse and repeat. |

The Drouin trade alone will take care of the merch and tickets sale. |

Still think that Dallas will regret that deal at some point.
...but yeah, getting Drouin at this point is a sideways move. |

Maybe.
Now in the next 5 years, I'll watch Radulov play his heart out and make amazing plays elsewhere.

Well since this is the "real rumour" site, I share what I was told. I heard that when Shipachyov decided to come over, his first stop was Mtl as he thought playing with Rads and seeing the fun he had with the crazy adoring fans in Mtl looked inticing. He was promptly lowballed by MB with a take it or leave it offer. MB was sure he could get him to sign with Rads and Markov in the fold. MB had no doubt that Rads would stay and he could re-up Markov for a fraction. When Shippy told MB to stick it, the whole plan fell apart. Rads started looking elsewhere and Markov upped his asking price. Not sure how much is true but makes for an interesting tale. |

I think the fact Shipashev ran to sign with an expansion team tells a lot about what his real interest in the NHL is.
...but hey, that's just me. |

Bergevin wanted to play hardball with him and Markov so this is what it is. I mean, he's no Crosby. |

Yep he wanted to make sure that everyone understood what happens when you are the heart and/or soul of the team. "Stop having so much fun! And you, Markov, speak English for god's sake!" |
