He's definitely up there. They had probably the most balanced scoring in the league last season and replacing Hyman with Marleau doesn't change that.

Also, history shows that having your three best shooters on one line isn't necessarily a bad idea at all. Anyone remember how terrifying Heatley-Spezza-Alfredsson was for a few years? That line took them to a Stanley Cup final and they didn't have the secondary scoring depth that the Leafs have.

I believe the Leafs could make the finals if Andersen is hot.

That's the best part....we play Tremblant ( Le Geant / Les Diables / Le Bete once per year and it's like we own the place.....

.
I love that as well. The exact opposite of the Hooters tournament I played last year. Expensive and on the cheap as far as prizes go. Only one prize for the winning team. (the least honest golfer) It was best ball and the winning team had a score of like 56. The best part of the tournament was that each foursome got a hooters girl as a caddy. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but not hard to look at.

But JVR isn't gone. As of today he's still on the roster. Sure, he could still be traded, but if there was a deal out there for a top 4 defenseman it probably would have gone down by now.

With or without him though, playing a 4th liner on your top line isn't really smart line management either.

- Jeffmt

That's your opinion I guess...1 year and automatically defining a guy as a 4th liner.

Anyways I see we don't agree on the lineup...no biggie

Just my view....you can be first to the puck and dig it out and NOT get a point...the puck does go back to the D too....the games I watched I don't recall Matthews or Nylander being the 1st to the puck more than Hyman....I don't see Marleau racing and slamming himself into the boards to win puck battles....but we'll find out in Sept/Oct. I realize Hyman had some real sour moments too...I don't think he's perfect...but I think Bab's really likes him and really don't see him on the 4th line this year.

I wonder if JVR "not being gone" has anything to do with the Cap and Brown signing.

Is there a chance the Leafs have a deal in place but the D they want to trade JVR for is already getting paid say $6m?

It would definitely mean the deal can't be done until the first day of the season or until some other money came off the books.

Just a thought.

Right, we'll see. I think we can both agree that Marleau at least gives Babcock more options and that's obviously a good thing.

I would think Brown is in the 1.75M to 2.25m range. not 3M. UFAs that put up 36 points and 20 goals, are in the 3M range.

Kadri, who had a 50 point season and 20 goals, plus a solid lockout season I believe was signed to a bridge deal at 2.9m.

By the time they hit UFA that's probably close to their ceiling though.

But I agree, $3M is maybe a bit too much for Brown at this stage. I wouldn't be too upset if he got it though, as long as he's signed.

Lets hope...but Hyman got 2.5...so Brown will be higher I would think

Last season, Eichel potted 24 goals and 57 assists in 61 games played. He missed the first 21 games of the season due to a dastardly high ankle sprain injury which he suffered the day before the season opener versus Montreal. Eichel averaged .93 points per game despite his serious injury. A healthy Eichel is expected to finish in the NHL Top 10 scoring race this season.

In his first two pro seasons, Eichel has scored 48 goals and 65 assists in 142 games played.

Oh GARTH

His rookie season must have really sucked if he only scored 24 goals and 8 assists.
