What about LTIR? (Updated)
As explained by James Mirtle, it has recently been revealed that LTIR can in fact be utilized in the off-season. Previously it was understood that this was not possible, and LTIR could only be used leading into the season on the final day of training camp. With this news, it is likely that Horton has already been placed on LTIR, allowing the Leafs to exceed the salary cap of $82.5M, and therefore they have enough space to sign RFA Connor Brown.
New facts about offseason cap situation..... - burn
no tradezzzz!
(frank) it. if maatta for bozak is the best offer we have, i say we run with lineup as is.

According to James Mirtle, Leafs have enough cap room to sign Brown.
On theAthletic.com
"The reason I didn't write on this last week was I kept getting different answers as to whether the Leafs were in trouble or not. The team itself, according to multiple sources, was not concerned, which was a huge red flag that we were missing something.
That something is apparently that the Leafs can — and likely already have — use long-term injured reserve space in the summer.
That goes against what we've believed possible previously, but NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly confirmed to The Athletic on Tuesday afternoon that it was allowed.
“Yes, they can,” Daly said when asked if teams were permitted to access additional cap room in this fashion long before the season started. “Same as in-season.”
Most teams use LTIR on the opening day of the season, as they like to push their roster as close to the cap as possible before going into LTIR. That isn't a problem for Toronto given how close they are already to the off-season limit.
The Leafs have likely placed one of Horton or Lupul on LTIR already, giving them roughly $5-million in space with which to sign Brown. (I currently expect Brown's deal will be long term and in the $3-million-a-season range.)
The Leafs will likely then wait until the start of the season to put the second player on LTIR, which will open another $5-million in space." - Leafsandbolts
Why pay for The Athletic when we can just get the little extra here for free. |

Quality of writing is worth the modest cost. They currently cover the Leafs, Hawks, Blue Jackets and Red Wings as well as the NBA, MLB, NFL and MLS. |

Bozak has earned the Maple Leaf - jimi james
he’s ok in his current role. But too soft to play against imo.
but if holden from the rags or maatta from the pens are the best offers, (frank) it. Let’s not help teams we are competing against.
Rags are in some trouble with their centers and pens struggled between the years of having staal and bonino playing behind crosby/malkin.
Let them pay up if they want him. |

Didn't recognize many of the names in Leafs' development camp but some kid name Jacob Tortora can really light the lamp.
Two hat tricks in two scrimmages or some poop like that.
Liljewgrin (I know racist but couldn't come up with anything else.) got an assist....bust. |

from ppp.
June 30:
Bill Daly officially wrote about the situation when emailed on Thursday: “There is no LTI in the off-season. We are looking at the facts and will make appropriate determinations at the appropriate time. There is no timeline I can share.”
July 11:
“Yes, they can,” Daly said when asked if teams were permitted to access additional cap room in this fashion long before the season started. “Same as in-season.”

Set your price! If you do put out their that bozak and or jvr is on the market, let teams know what you want! But it's not like the leafs have to trade these guys,it's like when Luo set a price on parenteu, he wanted a 2nd and if he didn't get it then he doesn't trade him! People were saying why not a 3rd or 4th? Leafs should of got somthing at least? Cause then your opponent's will know that eventually you'll come down, never give in to a opponent frank them! They don't pay they don't get! |

going to be tough to break into the lineup...which is a good thing. - Tumbleweed
Not that I know any better... But why would they move Kadri off third line center duties shutting down 1st lines effectively while scoring 30 goals ? And move a defensively suspect, young offensive winger to a position he is ill-suited for ? Especially with the face off and shut down responsibilities of 3c? Way to throw away his greatest assets (scoring) and kill his development and confidence. Switch Brown and Nylander. Maybe this makes sense. And Komarov and JVR.

Last season, Eichel potted 24 goals and 57 assists in 61 games played. He missed the first 21 games of the season due to a dastardly high ankle sprain injury which he suffered the day before the season opener versus Montreal. Eichel averaged .93 points per game despite his serious injury. A healthy Eichel is expected to finish in the NHL Top 10 scoring race this season.
In his first two pro seasons, Eichel has scored 48 goals and 65 assists in 142 games played.
