I knew it

but (frank) idk it makes at least some sense

the Jets have 5 of what they at least think are top 4 D. Trouba, Ehlers, Laine ect all need knew contracts soon. Trouba will only stay if hes a top pair.

Buff is 32 so he won't have as much value as a d in their prime

- Santo_44

Buff is gone!they won't be keeping him!

Where did the Bergermeister Meisterberger say it?
- Atomic Wedgie

On his site he created and funded himself to try to pretend to play sports reporter.....

Guy is such a weasel. Last week he said jvr trade imminent, now saying bozak. Guy asked him about it and he calls him a chump. What a loser.

I never liked the idea of having Big Buff as my #1 defenseman to be honest.

Trouba is already way better than him overall.

- Scabeh

Agreed Winnipeg is not going to be paying Ehlers 6mil? Trouba 6/7mil Buff 7.6,wheeler? ,and lammi 9? and then mark S.

This is just a peek at how poorly things have gone for ol' Berger since we last saw him around these parts. That's karma I guess.

Agreed.
Not sure why people enjoy that.
Never liked him, but always tough to lose a job you've been at for decades, wouldnt wish it on anyone and hope I never have to be faced with it.

Yeah I absolutely agree with you on that. As satisfying as it is to see a guy like that knocked down a rung, you've got to remember that there are people who depend on him and probably don't deserve that. He certainly sowed those seeds himself though.

What he didn't realize (and what a certain present Coyotes blogger is now guilty of) is that if you are going to be a blogger, and hope to monetize it, you can't really afford to piss off people all the time.

Berger was incredibly arrogant - and it ended up alienating him from the people who he expected to pay his bills.

I think Tanner is entertaining. I come to a blog site to read content that's different from major media outlets. Some of these blogs can be straight copy and paste jobs as far as I'm aware

What about LTIR? (Updated)
As explained by James Mirtle, it has recently been revealed that LTIR can in fact be utilized in the off-season. Previously it was understood that this was not possible, and LTIR could only be used leading into the season on the final day of training camp. With this news, it is likely that Horton has already been placed on LTIR, allowing the Leafs to exceed the salary cap of $82.5M, and therefore they have enough space to sign RFA Connor Brown.

New facts about offseason cap situation.....

According to James Mirtle, Leafs have enough cap room to sign Brown.

On theAthletic.com

"The reason I didn't write on this last week was I kept getting different answers as to whether the Leafs were in trouble or not. The team itself, according to multiple sources, was not concerned, which was a huge red flag that we were missing something.

That something is apparently that the Leafs can — and likely already have — use long-term injured reserve space in the summer.

That goes against what we've believed possible previously, but NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly confirmed to The Athletic on Tuesday afternoon that it was allowed.

“Yes, they can,” Daly said when asked if teams were permitted to access additional cap room in this fashion long before the season started. “Same as in-season.”

Most teams use LTIR on the opening day of the season, as they like to push their roster as close to the cap as possible before going into LTIR. That isn't a problem for Toronto given how close they are already to the off-season limit.

The Leafs have likely placed one of Horton or Lupul on LTIR already, giving them roughly $5-million in space with which to sign Brown. (I currently expect Brown's deal will be long term and in the $3-million-a-season range.)

The Leafs will likely then wait until the start of the season to put the second player on LTIR, which will open another $5-million in space."
