he easily has 2 years left in the tank, easily. esp when you toss him out there with a bunch of 20 year olds and Babcock igniting him with the salt bag pre game
25-30 goals both seasons I predict
he's still got it ! |

the Leafs struggled against the caps. proves how far they are from competing. they don't even have any prospects on tsns top 50. long road ahead. Sens model is what they need. |

Oh hell yeah, me too. All we need now is a bit extra on defence and we should be able to start by focusing on winning the Atlantic - lumlums

Well Chabot is the best player outside of the NHL remember? Their drafting is
IN-SANE.
Hell Chabot might even become the best player IN the NHL after he's pairing with Karlsson next season.... the most dominating duo right now.... or ever?

He got 27 goals last year...no reason he cant do the above next year with Matthews.
But he'll be 39 his second year.....age could catch up to him quickly. Im hoping not.
Plus I worry about his vision, his eyes seem to get smaller with age. |

No kidding. An undrafted - journeyman d-man that is basically a rental for a decent center (also a rental) not for me. Centermen are much more rare than a bottom pairing d-man. Just ask Montreal, who signed free agent Holland - who wasn't good enough to be on the Marlies. Ditto for NY Rangers who are woeful at center - Deharnais was signed by the strangers, makes Bozak look like Gretzky. Probably would fetch a late first rounder - maybe more at the deadline, why trade him for scraps that Rangers picked up for a 4th. - winsix
If the Leafs are in the playoff mix come the deadline though (and they should be) is anyone going to want to trade Bozak? Or JVR? It's easy to talk about asset management in July but how many people would really have the stomach for trading away important pieces right before a playoff run? I don't see it. |

I'd be ok with moving JVR, particularly if he's having a hell of a year. I think if the Leafs are in a good spot come deadline, it won't be because of goal scoring but because of better D and solid goaltending. They have players that can replace 2/3 of his production in the pipe. |

Well...possibly this good. So far its only been one season.
But if they turn out as hoped.....could be the best for sure.
Depending on what they accomplish. |

"Piss and vinegar?" This is Patrick Marleau right? Patrick "stripped" Marleau? Captain "No Heart" Marleau?
Maybe he means he literally has a tank of piss and vinegar leftover from the old folks home. |

Depends on return.
If D is still an issue and you make a hockey trade...you do it or at least consider it. |

Ofcourse the return has to be right. A rental for a rental wouldn't be what I'd look for though, it'd have to be someone that can maybe slot into the lineup on D with more term, or good value picks/prospects if not. |

What are we going to get for JVR as a rental though? A second or a low first round pick at best? What if the Leafs are trying to hold onto first place in the Atlantic and he's on pace for 30+ goals? At this stage in the rebuild I just think that's really unlikely. If he starts the season with the Leafs I think he likely ends it with them.
EDIT: I guess it's not impossible given what the Blues did with Shattenkirk, it does happen. If he's just going to get us a low first round pick though, I think a deep playoff run has more value to the team than that. |

Right, I agree with that. If the right roster player is offered then make the trade. But for a rental I think picks and/or prospects is more likely. |
