Fantasy NHL.com ranked the 25 best Left Wingers in Hockey per the list below.
You can disagree with some choices, I certainly do, but JVR is ranked in the twenties - we'll see what he gets.

Fehr + Marncin + 2nd for Colin Miller done. cuts $2.25 Million off the cap.
- winsix

That's a whole load of garbage for a young EHD with upside.

A full line too many, plus need to unload Marchenko and Marancin. Whether a player has options will matter as well. Kapanen can be sent down without clearing waivers, Rychel can't. Fehr needs to be traded - an ok 4th line centre with a low cap hit.
- winsix

Yep.

We have to lose Marchenko, Marincin and then one or two of JVR, Kap, Sosh, Leivo and maybe even Rychel.

Those guys with a pick should get us something on D plus we lose a few contracts and Cap. Win, win, win.

No Its one garbage a 2nd and a useful centre that McPhee drafted and later traded for.
Certainly would not give a first rounder for Miller.

Oposo ,ladd, lucic, ryan, Marleau, Radulov, Ericksson! Jvr is younger than most and better in some cases! If you have a legitimate first line center, say J.T.or Getz or Crosby, Seguin? Your going to be getting a 30g scoring winger all day long! Since arriving in toronto he's never played with a first line center! Hell even some would say never with a second line center! It's been bozak mostly if not exclusively! 7mil all day longgg!

Don't trade Bozie until the deadline when we see how the team is doing and how the injury situation will be next year. We may need him for the cup run. It makes no sense to give up one of the most underrated centres in the game if the deal isn't right. IMO.

Ya it's bullshat! ! Plain and simple! The players are payed in u.s. dollars! And certain tax laws and housing prices give u.s. teams huge advantages! Our dollar floating around the 70 cent mark?,there should be a provision for the Canadian teams to have a 78mil cap at least 3mil more than their u.s. counter parts! Far to long have the Canadian teams toronto and Montreal in particular! but probably all !have been proping up money losing franchises and small market American teams to long! Bullshat!

If I'm not mistaken Hunts, all money in the NHL is in USD for all teams and players in the US or Canada.

You're right about certain tax issues though. That always sucks but because of the amount of travel and playing in different states/provinces/countries there are good was to get around certain tax liabilities.

Are you guys still talking about the salary cap and the contract limits? Like seriously...you think TML are idiots? They know what they are doing. There is NO CAP PROBLEM! THERE IS NO MAX 50 CONTRACT PROBLEM!

This whole thread should be shut down because this is some of the dumbest poop ever. I promised myself I wouldn't keep reading but I failed. I'm remaking that promise again.

You are right. He is very underrated especially in the HB Leafs community. The Leafs will be going for a run. They won't be dumping players at the deadline. Bozak will be resigned after the season because we need exactly that type of player.

I heard some dumb poop earlier say Freddy the Goat will be the 3rd line center. haha, he wont even be healthy to start the season and he's never even proven himself as a 4th line NHL center but some goof thinks he's better than Bozak.

I've got high hopes for the goat. But with this injury he may be literally slow getting back into the convo for the big club. Bozak>Goat no question.

Seriously.. I didn't think JVR would get anywhere near 7 mill... but after looking up those players mentioned (Okposo, Ladd, Lucic etc..).. they all got PAID right around the same age that jvr is.. and you're right.. JVR is probably better than Loui Eriksson ($6), Ryan ($7.25) and ladd ($6).

Dam... we gotta move him.. and I have a feeling if we keep him.. we won't want to move him at the deadline.. we'll want him for a run if we're lucky enough to be in the playoffs again (I miss Dart Guy already) and we won't be able to keep him ($$$).

If for some reason we need to move a body for Brown to be signed, I'm 100% for moving Komarov for whatever we can get for him.

He makes $2.95M, which is probably a bit shy of what Brown will make, and Hyman easily replaces what Komarov brings; factor in Kapanen being so good on the PK towards the end of last year, and I just don't see why we'd keep Komarov around.

He's exactly the kind of role player you replace on a cheap 1-year deal in UFA (Moore) or from within your system (Rychel).

The only thing I'd say is that Eriksson and Ladd bring a possession/two-way game that JVR lacks entirely. He's only good in a sheltered scoring role and has never played up to his size.

Still, I think he'll get at least 6.5 on the open market, depending on term.

I think that sports leagues need to rebalance their cap world, to take into account taxation. Teams in Florida have a double advantage with good weather and little or no income tax. It's why Lebron James was able to put together a super team and win a few NBA titles. In the NHL, Tampa was able to keep Steven Stamkos, because of the tax differential. Other teams were at a disadvantage and had little or no hope in signing him, due to the Florida tax advantage. Time to allow each jurisdiction to factor in the tax differential in their salary cap.

The NBA is too much

But it would be nice if teams could go over by like 5-10 million but just had to pay an insane luxury tax. So only teams like the Leafs, NYR, Habs, ect could do it. It's not a lot but it's enough to keep the rich competitive.

I really hope he is interested in taking less money to stay.

3x3.75

4x3.50

He easily gets 4x4 on the open market though. Just look at Bonino. Could even get 4x4.25

Is it fuc king hockey season yet? The CFL? A corpse that should have been buried decades ago. Blue Jays? A corpse of a team that got too old, too fast.....just tear it down already! NFL? Still too far away.........come on Lou....do something to keep us occupied! Either knee cap someone, or make a trade for that top end defender, with spare parts and threats!

If he'd do 4.25 X 3, I'd take it and like it. He's a very serviceable player that does fine in the faceoff dot and enough scoring savvy to make him a 2nd or 3rd line centre. He's underrated.
