Anyone see Jesse Marshall ripping Bozak to shreds for being terrible defensively. And even worse, Bozak with Kessel is even worse defensively.

I'm not giving that much up for a rental who bleeds that many shot attempts.

You put a line of Hagelin-Bozak-Kessel and they should be fine. Toronto media is a joke anyway.

Jesse is from Pittsburgh. But yeah, I don't know, I think that line would score a bunch of goals but we need one line to play defense...

Granlund, Backlund, Little, Perreault, Bozak, Plekanec, Filppula or E.Staal could get the job done for us.
- Barnaby36

Sure they could, but I don't see their respective teams letting any of those guys up. I'm sure Philly would give up Filppula, but I doubt they'd do business with the Pens.

Why do you need a "defensive line"? Just control the puck and beat the other line more often than not. Play defense by not letting them have the puck in our zone. Sid and Geno can play the last minute of a game, we have plenty of capable wingers, we don't need to worry about that stuff.

I thought of that when Bozak's name came up as a 3C option. I did think at the time that if Hags were on that line (as he probably would be) that he would help matters but it would still be a little sketchy defensively. This is why I wanted us to go after a guy like Hanzal - he produces and plays defense.

Filpula works for me. He's overpaid a tad but only one year. 42 pts last year is fine for us. If he can fit in the cap I would go for him. Not sure on his trade value as he's a little overpaid but if we can fit him under the cap I don't mind paying extra for one year. I could get behind giving up a 3rd round pick for him especially if they retain a million.

Term and salary is reasonable. His average season last 5 years is 55 games. So he would fit in here. At any given time 2 out of our top 3 centers would be in the lineup.

Yes, injuries are definitely a concern with him, but it would have been well worth the risk, IMO, and he was free to sign without giving up assets.

Who the hell has the time or the desire to watch you play a video game? Why don't you get out of your parents basement and do something with your life? Worst generation ever!

Same dude who tried to impugn the entire Pens fanbase by saying that we think we can get Duchene for Maatta straight up even though no one actually said it. Posted to multiple blogs. Now he wants our support for his stupid BS?

I'm going to flag him just to be on the safe side.

Yet Jesse still said he wanted to get Bozak. Bonino didn't have good possession numbers or match up defensively either, he was just good on the PK.

I'd rather go into the season without a 3C than trade either Guentzel or Schultz straight up for Bozak and JVR. Let alone both.
- Victoro311

You see that Tyler Johnson contract? 5mx7yrs? I would have been cool with that if the Pens could have somehow snagged his rights. although no Florida state income tax may have brought it down a bit. Who knows?

Yes, I know but with the value Toronto fans are putting on Bozak... I'm just not giving up a ton of assets for a rental with warts.

Well they wouldn't be getting him to be a shutdown center but to make the 3rd line a top 6 worthy scoring line.

He'd be cheaper then most as a rental, but agree I wouldn't invest a ton of prime assets in him. Probably takes more then a 2nd from us though. I think Toronto is capable of getting to the ECF, so I don't see them doing us a favor.

Too bad GMs are all buddy buddy, someone could throw a 3.7M Offer sheet towards Connor Brown and really screw the Maple Leafs.

tocchet officially gone. Recchi for Tocchet. If cullen already made a decision not to play we could have done Cullen for Recchi. Jokinen for Cullen. And ended up about where we were two years ago.

my neighbor watches Tocchet's dog and told me that a few days ago. Sorry to see him go, but apparently it was an offer he couldn't refuse.
