The 18 year old that was just drafted?

Surely Subban has the inside edge on the kid, no?

- dbot

Not in height. But HDMH right? Even after your team loses 19-1?

Hoping he sees a few games. Something to whine about, but I don't really care.

Even if there isn't a fit here, would just like to see him develop and maybe JB can get something for him.

- hillbillydeluxe

I'd like to see him dress in some pre-season games and if he earns a spot later...he earns a spot. Nothing will be gifted to the kid, clearly.

I think he'll have as good an opportunity as he's going to get with Green as HC.

I was going to guess that HDMH was some sort of code for feelings.
Had to google it.
i wasn't far off.

The situation reminds me a bit of Connauton. We had him in the system and never saw him in a regular season game.

as it turns out, I guess he is a 6/7 dman, so maybe it isn't a big loss

we did deal him in the Derek Roy trade.

and yeah, if he doesn't earn an opportunity, he doesn't get a shot.

He probably does, but not on Gunnerson, who was also just drafted. Gunnerson I believe is a 20 year old though.
Personally, I think Subban's only chance of getting good regular season games are if Stecher and Hutton get injured.

I know there's a few regulars in here that live in the caribou region ...just curious if everyone is ok ...pretty scary stuff going on for many families in the region
- Redmile247

I'm not in the terror zone at the moment. I'm in the north Cariboo. It's smokey af here though. On the other hand, my father lives in our cabin in the south Cariboo... he's pretty much surrounded and on standby. He'll be ok... not sure about our property though... you can only dodge so many fire seasons in the south Cariboo.

I had a friend in Lac Le Hache call me to rescue him and his dogs yesterday. I got out my map books, google earth and called a friend who maintaines forestry roads... like I suspected, no way to get to him. He loaded everything in his RV(no other wheels), police are not caring about no insurance in the evac... but he blew a timing belt and had to leave everything but his dogs on the side of the burning closed down hwy... I had a route all figured out. Take the Barkerville hwy, cut across the 3100 around Yanks Peak/Cariboo Lake into Likely, cross from Likely on the Beaver Valley road to Horsefly, take the historic 108 mile wagon trail(some 4x4 required), and from there down Timothy Mountain into Lac Le Hache... no go, there is a bridge closed for construction between Barkervill and Likely... he's literally sitting in his house with no wheels watching the fire on the other side of the lake and he said it jumped the hwy at 103 Mile just a few hours ago.... the only way away from the fire is into the hills east of LLH... I'm sure he can jump in the back of someone's pick up or be evacuated by services but he's living on the edge of disaster none the less...

That's why he called me even though he knows closer people. I lived in the backwoods around Horsefly in the early 2000's. I had a 200 acre ranch with an old log 5 bedroom homestead on it. $450 a month. No phone lines. I was the last ranch on the power run. Mostly Mennonite ranches in the area or lot's of old gold miner throwbacks and old draft dodgers who stayed in Canada. People get around these back routes with no insurance, no licences/suspensions or trying to dodge road blocks for one reason or another. I fit right in back then...lol.

I say he's 2-3 years away, he's saying that because he's that far away, with how bad we'll be until then he'll be irrelevant by the time he's ready because we'll have better prospects. I disagree personally, he's going to be a very good middle 6 winger for us when he gets here.
- DariusKnight

and theres a few off seasons to get through too. If July 1 was any indication (with 5 signings) there may be no room still barring any trades out

Did you see this article:

http://theprovince.com/sp...man-produces-future-stars

Seems new Comets coach Cull is focusing on getting him NHL ready like he did with Bolts prospects. If you turn a long shot into an asset then AHL development has worked.

- Nuck4U

I like the suggestions cull made on adjusting subbans game

Where would Subban be on the depth chart do ya reckon?

Edler
Tanev
Stetcher
Gudbranson
MDZ
Hutton
Weirchoch
Biega
Holm
Pedan
OJ

? Subban @ 12?

I think Vancouver played about 10 D last year, more were called up but never saw game action. I could be wrong there.

Either way, i suppose it's possible that Subban gets a shot (if Edler, MDZ, Stetcher are out and OJ is unavailable), but unlikely.

I know that he's 25, played for team sweden (as like a 6-7 dman) and is supposed to be a depth signing, decent 2-way guy.
he's on a 1 way 1 year contract.
Hoping for a pleasant surprise.
