Would you trade Skjei in a package for a #1 center?

You know, I think the teams that have top end elite number 1 centers are way more likely to win the Cup. But, there is a serious supply issue on these guys. If you suck bad enough maybe you get to draft an elite generational talent. But, even sucking doesn't guarantee you that. I would love an elite number one center. The problem is that the teams that have them aren't usually willing to give them up, and there aren't many that fall into the class elite class.

Have to be honest, I am not even sure yet Draisalt falls into that class. Even back in Juniors the guys that play with McDavid have huge, huge number spikes, and he played a ton with McDavid. I think the guy is very, very good, but just based on one year, where he played huge minutes with McDavid, I am not sure that he's elite. He could be, just not sure yet.

you still don't get that what I'd do is never what I am talking about, I always try to interpret what I think the RANGERS WILL DO

Also, he's wrong about that Ducks team. Getzlaf wasn't their #1 center, Andy McDonald was. Because he got to play on a line with 48 goal Teemu Selanne.

Getzlaf lead the team in playoff points with 17. He was a huge part of that cup.

Andy McDonald had more regular seasons points a their #1 center and led that team in goals in the playoffs.

I knew the Rangers wouldn't trade Brassard and Stepan in the same summer and was pretty sure they'd trade him before his NTC kicked in

Depending on who is coming back you have to at least listen. But there is a really strong reason to wait for next season's free agent crop.

What type of number 1 center would you want the Rangers to acquire that you feel is realistic? I know you want Draisalt, but who else? And do you really think it's realistic that teams will trade the number 1 center that can make that difference in winning the Cup.

Maybe a guy like Duchene is available, but he will cost a ton, I don't think he falls into that elite class, and really don't think he would make the difference considering what the Rangers would have to give up.

I don't think that would be enough for MacKinnon. And I think it's largely because of the reason you stated. The elite class centers are like gold. Once you have one of those guys, you just don't give them up. Sure, MacKinnon still has something to prove, but the Avs drafted him to be that guy and don't think they are anywhere near ready to give up on that hope yet.

I just think that most of those type of centers are almost untouchable.

That'd be great, add another young guy for free. 4 drafts without a 1st but 3 free college guys would balance that out.
