not only the guys they are bringing in, but the guys being shipped out

if they signed one of these guys like Jussi Jokinen or Jagr then I'd really think they have no plan in mind

That was one of the biggest downfalls of the team last year. The D couldn't get the puck through the neutral zone up to the forwards with speed. Now 5 of the 6 d man excel at that. Big reason why the Rangers really didn't need to go crazy adding forwards.

He's done pretty good so far, but we're still searching for that #1 center. Not sure if the plan is to use Miller as a stop gap until Andersson is ready or if we plan on going after a true #1. I think we could use 1 or 2 more gritty guys on the team but like what I've read about Deangelo being a bit of an a-hole.

There is no package we can put together to get a true number one center besides Duchene which would cost us Skjei + Buchnevich + 1st + B prospect of the rumors of the asking price are true unfortunately. I'd love to acquire a #1 center, but those guys simply aren't on the market unless you want to acquire a Stepan 2.0 who can pass as a 1C but is best suited as a 2C, but we still wouldn't like what we give up in the trade.

All joking aside, I'd be willing to give up quite a bit to get a guy like Draisaitl. Skjei Miller Graves 1st. That's a nice package, or to a lesser extent put a nice package together for a guy like Bennett. You can't win in this league without a top #1 center.

Some of the UFAs that will be available in 2019 barring no extensions: Spezza, Couture, Duchene, Pavelski, Seguin, Panarin, Eberle, Skinner, Zuccarello, Brassard, Rinne, Fleury, Bobrovsky, Wheeler, Karlsson, Doughty, McDonagh, Ellis, OEL, and Myers

The last 10 years, every Stanley Cup winner has had a true #1 center on it. Crosby, crosby, toews, kopitar, toews, kopitar, bergeron, toews, crosby, datsyuk, Getzlaf. I think we need to do whatever we can to get a #1 center, very tough to win it all without one IMO.

Tavares is available next summer, as well as a number of top centers the following summer.
