Yeah but none of those guys can fight bro.

Darling is 5 inches taller and 8 pounds heavier than Reaves. He could take him.

He is, though.

Jim Rutherford is a pretty good GM a lot of the time.

He also is entirely too loyal to his players sometimes and makes a lot of boneheaded decisions in attempts to make them feel comfortable. You gotta have somebody else there with him to tell him no on some things.

- BINGO!

All GMs are bad. Some are just not as bad as others.

It's lunacy.

Carolina acquired

Marcus Kruger, Trevor Van Reimsdyk and Scott Darling

For:

Second round pick (62 overall), a 3rd round pick, and a 5th round pick.

And the Penguins gave up a 1st and Oscar Sundkvist for Ryan (frank)ing Reaves and a 2nd.

- BINGO!

Well when you put it that way....yikes.

Still though Im not hating on Reaves. I like having him. He's fast for a big boy and can lay the body better than anyone else on the Pens. Contrary to popular belief the Pens do hit a lot...the thing is the hits were never really punishing. His hits hurt. Sullivan could turn him into a 10+ goal scoring 4th line winger yet...lets wait and see what unfolds.

Wtf Tocchet is gone to the Coyotes.

Well good luck, hope the pens dont miss a step

Honeslty, I think Martin would be a much bigger loss. What he's done with the defensmen and all the injuries to the blueline the past few years is remarkable.

it is not certain yet. but I said it before and I will say it again. I don't think the player losses are as bad and influential as the personel losses are. we lost botts and sexton and we might lose tocchet too. why dafuq did they take away the compensation picks? teams can just entice and ravage our personel as they please with no win for us. it is stupid.

I just don't get it.

The Pens have won two cups by being faster and having more talented depth than anyone else. Replacing some of that depth with older guys that don't do anything more than hit doesn't really make sense to me.

Name a sport where the face of the league doesn't get some pull on player acquisitions. Giving up 20 draft spots in a weak draft to make crosby happy isn't a bad deal. If the guy whose had 10 concussions wants some muscle you get him the best muscle you can get.

You know what hero charts don't show? The other teams guy picking up a little damage from reeves and being less effective the rest of the series.

Either did the Pens going to the cup final and winning it just before the playoffs started and especially before the Caps series.

Really dont know how things will play out in sports and thats the real beauty of it...for me anyway.

I really trust Sullivan to get the most out of his guys...I expect no different from Reaves.

LOL Crosby said hey Jim instead of using that 1st for something useful go get a 4th liner that can play 6 mins a night in the playoffs?

14-15 Pens 3rd most fighting majors - no cup
15-16 Pens 2nd least fighting majors - cup
16-17 Pens 2nd least fighting majors - cup

And what is the common thread in your little run down. Answer, Mike Sullivan. If all the Reaves whiners and criers actually think Reaves changes the Pens dynamic that much, then you should just stick to reading James Tanner's blogs.

Great. He can't (frank)ing score.

Or pass.

Of players who have played 250 games over the past 4 seasons, only Josh Gorges has fewer shots than Ryan Reaves.

For (frank)s sake, he has 30 fewer shots than CHRIS THORBURN in 6 more games.

He's played 2448 minutes over the past 4 years. He gets one shot for every ~14:30 of ice time.

When you're GMJR you don't need first round picks.

2015~ No first round pick/won Stanley
2016~ No first round pick/won Stanley

Just as you can spin your narrative, so can others. First round picks are overrated.

Reaves might not have incredible stick skills but he sure as hell can skate. Some people seem to think that because he can fight he is just some plodding goon.

Didn't like missing out on Kostin but I'm still very excited to see Reaves in a Pens uni!

Sure, plenty of speed and talent on the top three lines. But the Penguins employed Kuhnhackl, Fehr and Carter Rowney on their 4th line during those runs. The only thing Reaves changes there is that they get a little faster on their 4th line while adding beef.
