Not sure if he's signed yet but might be a better option than butcher.

Edit: listed as C but can play LW

- Sabresfan-365

Forwards who don't score goals in college usually don't amount to much in the NHL... probably a role player at best

Not that I'd mind the signing, bc who knows how he'd develop?
But I wouldn't expect much

No matter what players and owners do or don't do, lockouts are almost inevitable now. The players are always going to want a bigger piece of the revenue pie.

True, it happens. Just wonder if all this guaranteed money getting tossed around is because the 2020 lockout is, pretty much, guaranteed as well.

From 2015-17 - Points per 60 min/ 5 on 5 --- Our top 7 forwards

Jason Pominville 1.89
Jack Eichel 1.60
Sam Reinhart 1.56
Benoit Pouliot- 1.54
Evander Kane 1.51
Kyle Okposo 1.47
Ryan O'Reilly 1.36

- sbroads24

Looks like Kane & Reinhart have been pretty decent after all?

I've been saying this for a while...
our forward talent is UNDERRATED

Improving the defense & coaching a better style of play will help the 5v5 scoring even more

We just gotta keep the puck outta the net as well
When we played more offensively last year (2nd half) we gave up a lot more goals then early on when we were playing more defensively

Not really.

They are 177th and 198th among forwards over the past two years.

Basically lower end 2nd line production.

EDIT- I fully expect the numbers to go up a little bit with better D men

Ehh we have 5 good players on offence. Oreilly, Kane, Eichel, Reinhart and okposo. Past them our forward talent is VERY average. Our top 6 pretty good and thats why our PP is solid.

Well in comparison to Eichel,
the numbers look pretty close to me

That's most teams though

And like I said...
production will get better on all lines with the defense improved

Kane was coming off shoulder surgery two years ago and missed what 12-15 games last year and came back early from broken ribs because he is a warrior so that 177 would have been in the 140's 150's, maybe higher if he wasn't such a WARRIOR

They are, but Eichel also was 18 and 19 during those two years, and also blows them out of the water in PP efficiency.

My main point was that Pominville and Pouliot are still fringe top 6 players that we got for basically nothing, while our previous GM paid out the ass for ones that aren't that much better

Kane is a very good 5 on 5 goal scorer.

Kane is also a 4th liner when it comes to 5 on 5 playmaking

5 on 5 assists over two years

Moulson-19 - 1556 minutes played
Kane- 17 - in 2107 minutes played
Girgensons -17 in 1768 minutes played

Not every player is going to be Jack Eichel and or be a fantasy phenom. Some score goals, forecheck, win faceoffs, kill penalties, have big bodies and increase team toughness and intensity and oh did i say score 5 v5 goals, line those characteristics with Moulson and Girgensons. He is a 6 mil a year warrior

He tied Nic Delauriers in assists per 60.

382nd in the NHL among forwards.

You're right, someone will pay him 6 mil. Won't be the GM we have now

And with not giving away valuable assets and leaving the team with third line LW's after down years as 1st line. But we'll see if he values 30 goal scorer power forwards who can skate and are WARRIORS more than some and if there is a deal to be made and Kane wants to stay. A lot of variables

Agreed, I think we need a little more to be a playoff contender.

Atlantic:
TB
MTL
TOR
OTT
BOS
BUF
FLA
DET

I could see us landing anywhere from 3-7 in the Atlantic, should be a battle till the end for the last playoff spot.

I wish we had one.

We had one score 28, while missing his annual 10+ games, while also shooting 2% higher than his career average.

If he shot his career shooting % of 9%, he would have had 23.4 goals.

All things to consider when determining to resign a guy to a big deal

Regardless...
u have not been shy about the production of Sam & Kane,
yet their 5v5 production is on par with Jack's

So which is it...
are u too hard on Kane & Reinhart,
or not tough enough on Eichel?

Why is the assumption that he's giving him away and not planning on replacing him. If you can't re sign him you should try and get something for him and replace it in the off season next year.

Eichel hasn't been great 5 on 5. But again, one year he was 18, the other coming off an ankle injury.

He was a lot better 5 on 5 after the all star break when he seemed fully healed

I don't think Montreal is a sure thing
Price is gonna have to be great with the shape of their defense
And they really couldn't afford to lose Radulov up front

Idk that I'd predict them to miss the playoffs....
but I wouldn't be surprised either

Sam is only a year older,
and neither Reinhart or Kane are the talent that Eichel is

For them to put up number close to his...
That's pretty good for their production imo

So trade your top goal scorer and power forward, forechecker for a pittance and hope you get a number 1 sometime when you already have a top 6 who could be your number 2 for years because he isn't a playmaker too? Well, Sam isn't a finisher what to do with him? Not every player is going to be Eric Lindros and do everything.
