I would rather see the Canucks be dominant, but that ain't gonna happen any time soon

And ya, hopefully he's smart enough to not mean competitive as in playoff push... more just competitive enough so we're not this:

- NewYorkNuck

Lol i would obviously rather the same but lets not be foolish. Utica has a better chance to win the calder than canucks do of making the playoffs

Totally agree. Trevor and jim are honestly dumb and dumber when it comes to the media. Actions speak louder than words and hansen and burrows trades + the draft direction was a great testament to that. Jim infront of a camera or mic is just the worst lol.

Thats true & i want hockey ppl not orators & politicians & used car salesman.
Why do i care about their media skills? I don't lol

I think competitive is to ensure they have an NHL calibre team. Loading the lineup with Megna's, Chaput's, and prospects that aren't ready is not going to let them be competitive. He isn't collecting or acquiring top players, but solid NHL bodies to keep the ones that aren't ready off the roster, particularly with the media/fan outrage of his roster last season; thats how I took his statement

Thats how i read it as well๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

We just don't agree on how to rebuild. I won't support tanking on purpose. Makes my blood boil. I go to the majority of the games and I pay to see a solid effort. Not a 5-1 loss you seem to be after. (frank) that. They need to dress some vets so the product is tolerable
- CanuckDon

I dont support a purposeful tank, but i support developing properly and not gifting prospects anything. I would rather see megna on 4th line than any prospect in 2017. But thats just me. (unless that prospect absolutely deserves it)

lol if rock bottom is finishing completely last in the standings then I guess we are not quite there yet lol...

All in all, like I said before, I don't really care improving next year, I just am eagerly waiting for the Sedans to be done and gone, for 14 million to come off the cap, for our prospects to be ready (properly) when the Sedans are gone, and to draft and develop the way we haven't really seen from this franchise in a long long time. A commitment to the future is what I really want to see, which Jim has done a good job as of late with not only his drafting, but his trades. A Utica team, flourishing in all stats, to me, is far more important than a 2017/2018 Canucks team that finishes with 10 more pointss that last year. In the end though, we all want the same thing, don't have to agree 100% on how we get there

Rest assured we will not overachieve next season ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
As for Utica they will benefit this year & seasons to come for sure.
Thats a given & fun fun times for Utica fans.

As for when the Sedins r gone it won't change where the future lies other than mentoring & holding the fort til any prospect is ready & earns a spot.

meh, let Bo mentor the kids over the sedins anyway. Bo truly is the most ideal prospect for all prospects to mimic development after. From skating, to on/off ice maturity, he is truly a freakshow (in a good way )

I have both modest & big expectations for next season & beyond....

1st off the big ones:
TG proves me right he is as good as i believe & we see real progress.
Next up if we suffer less injuries so players emerge in a bigger capacity.
Players like LE bounce back & BO BB Sven Granny keep growing.
The TDL is another awesome day.

Now the modest ones:
JV arrives ready to impress everyone.
The PP shows some life not a buzz killer.
D corp show more nasty eg EG ๐Ÿ˜œ
We r competitive & the fans luv it & buy in totally.
Wins/Losses r insignificant if entertained.

lol I could not agree more. Anyone who we know will be with the club for the foreseeable future, both prospects and current roster players, to have improvement or growth or progress is obviously a huge win.

to add. JV adding more points and being better overall in Utica would be a huge accomplishment. Gudbranson playing more than 35 and showing a bit more of why he was drafted 3OA would be nice. Letting Bo and Sven and one of Stecher or Hutton run a successful PP1 would be super ideal as well.

I read that as the kids r not going to be forced til ready

It still seams some fans want the oiler, leaf model of throwing kids to the wolves its stupid, benning is trying to avoid that and I agree with him.

I think the consensus in here is that we DONT want a oiler/leaf model. How many prospects have both of those franchises wasted by rushing? Unless a prospect deserves it, in which I can admit, Bo/Nylander/Marner/McDavid/Draisaitl, they are much better served developing in any league but the NHL. I wish OJ could play AHL, but since he can't, I am 100% for him playing in London again. I don't think he was spectacular or NHL-ready by his last years season.

U r referencing the tankers who think sucking on such lousy levels is a good thing.
Those same pp won't dish out the coin to watch that product on the ice.
Furthermore they think its progress in some sort of strange & magical way.

Even Spock would have a field day picking apart that logic ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
Botchford would be in his glory....
TSN would carve us up for eternity & actually have cause to do so ๐Ÿ˜œ

He plays against men now. Imagine when he puts on some muscle how much more he will be able to do.

Exactly and will have played 2 years against men. With today's modern training and his age maturity, kicking in, adding 30 pounds of muscle is very much within reach for his height.

EP will have just as much a shot to make it as the Sedins did. They broke into what was then a much more physical league that now has turned to speed and skill.

If Sedins retire wouldn't be surprised if EP breaks onto next seasons roster as a 3/4C. But if not, he'll work his way up from Comets after adjustments are made in season.

What's interesting is that prospects like Lind, Guadette & EP are versatile players that play C and wing. With the former bringing a heavier gritty game and EP that dangle sick hands at speed.

Players like these that add speed and drive the net will be welcome for Green and the system he wants to use.

Out of this summer camp we all expect OJ & BB to make a run for earning a spot with Canucks at main camp. They are the closest and most expected from talent wise. EP aside as he's heading back to SEL.

My dark horses are Dahlen and Palmu. One has played against men and the other is ready to try. Both could just as easily play in Europe this season. But I hope the Comets are decided instead. Even if they are ready for more, Palmu and Dahlen could benefit being around making their bones in the AHL this season. Then perhaps earning a call up, either because of injury, or the shuttle performance option, at some point.

MacEwen may be close as well but power forwards are harder to translate their game when young against men. Gadjovich I say same even though this kid seems afraid of no one and is lights out mature. Too bad he couldn't get AHL time. But a year working on his skating in junior will improve his standing.

I think lost in all that is going on with the Canucks is the fact that Chatfield and Brisebois will be in Utica next year. I am stoked to see what they can do, same with MacEwen. McEwan/Gadjovic/McKenzie are the 3 types of players that I was hoping Benning would draft/covet in free agency. Really excited to see what those kids can do.

To be honest i interpreted it differently but i can see where you would get that. Jumping 10 sppts would be a fail imo. I love what he did in free agency and adding more scrubs on stpp gap 1 year deals to keep the kids away imo would be the best thing for this club. I think the sedins leaving next year and spits opening up (along with 14 mill cap space) is the time to maybe focus on all that stuff
- Codes1087

I wish I was wrong but don't count on next season being the Sedins last one. Those 2 are in really good shape and have been told from JB and TL that they can play as long as they want.
