And they need to make the team and do it in the NHL. I've seen some game tape on Rubtsov and I liked what I saw.

Unless the fat is trimmed at forward, I'm not sure where some wild card forwards are supposed to fit on the roster.

Weal-Giroux-Simmonds
Raffl-Couturier-Voracek
Filppula-Patrick-Konecny
Read-Lehtera-Weise

Lindblom, Vecchione, Laughton

Everyone seems to forgot how good Myers is, he was there best defenseman at training camp and preseason till he got hurt last season, there were rumblings he would be provy out, watch for him

What is his status since the hit he took at the world juniors?

So not a fan of Raffl on the second line.

I'm not a fan of anything potentially playing left wing for the Flyers this coming season. Travis Konecny can do it but I for one would like to see him play extended time in his natural position and I would like to see it next to Nolan Patrick.

He's played some good hockey since. Still has a long way to go though. Bob Mackenzie says one thing about him being NHL ready and expectations run wild.

LW is thin but I think Lindblom can step up. Weal as well. I think they'll be ok. The C/RW pairings look pretty decent... on paper at least.

Weal G Simmonds
Lindbolm Coots Voracek
Filppula Patrick Konecny
Lehtera Laughton Raffl

You beat me before I could ask where Raffl was.

Even with your changes, I think this is all wishful thinking. Hextall didn't sign Weise to scratch him for four seasons. From my understanding Lehtera mostly plays center and very little wing. Laughton has been on the outside looking in since he was drafted. I expect Read and Weise to play.

Meh. So things on the fourth line get swapped around a bit. I still feel good about the rest of the lineup. The fourth line is never going to look perfect.

Wiese will probably get some good playing time in the lineup. I just think Read is the odd man out personally (save some sort of trade)

Honestly I think trading Raffl might be ideal. Then let Read and Lehtera play out their deals. Some prospects should be ready to step up by then. Not pretty. But it's better than dealing with buyouts and one-sided trades.

That looks OK but Vecchione might push for a spot. Still, that lineup features one guy who's ever scored 30 goals in the NHL, Simmonds, and he's done it a grand total of once. That does not inspire confidence.

Doesn't change main point, but Simmonds has scored 30+ each of the last two seasons.

A lot of fans wanted Schenn gone and now that he is, the roster looks worse than I expected. Take away Raffl, we have zero natural Left Wingers. I'm not sure what the expectation is for Lindblom but I do know every play needs to get their feet wet in the NHL and some develop Fast than others. Nolan Patrick (if healthy) I am not worried about but I have a totally different feeling of Lindblom and Vecchione. I'm not even Vecchione will make the NHL. Is Jordan Weal a legitimate scorer? I have no idea.

Not to get you worked up because I know how much you hated that trade but I don't know how much a natural LW Schenn was in the first place. I think where he felt natural and performed was in that slot position being fed some pucks. That is where he thrived. Raffle is versital for sure but wouldn't kill the line up. I would love to keep Raffl on the Flyers. He maybe someone that is movable is what I think he was saying.

Does anyone remember the line combinations at the end of the year?

Wasn't Filpulla #2C?

Can someone explain the Kovalchuk situation?

I'm confused why his isn't bound to NJ after he signed his 10 yr deal a few years ago before he dipped.

He often centered Weal and Simmonds and got the third most ice time out of the centers

He is bound this season. That's why they'd have to trade his rights. Next year he apparently doesn't have to. I don't remember enough about what happened when they terminated his contract to know exactly why. It was also kinda shady anyway

So he's not under contract...that deal is terminated? I guess a clause in the termination was to retainrights for 5 years? Who knows.

Wednesday morning trivia

Only two players from the 1996 NHL draft played more than 1300 games. One is third-round pick Zdeno Chara. Who is the other one?
