contracts are just getting out of hand everywhere.

No. How teams divide up their cap space won't lead to a lock out. |

Might as well get an over the hill Marleau for more money and half the term then. I'd rather get the douchebag.
Still. Good player, makes the Leafs better and they have the cap space I guess. - Scabeh
Over the hill Marleau outscored Radulov. |

Why not sign Radulov at that price though? - Scabeh
Radulov probably wants a 5-year deal; Leafs probably were trying hard on 2 years and caved. |

Not for his term of 7 years.

More goals, less points, playing with the Sharks vs Playing with a low scoring team like the Habs.
But sure, if it helps you being happy. |

If the leafs aren't planning on trading JVR they just made it impossible to sign him at a low cap hit. If they gave 38 year old Marleau 6.25 with term JVR will be looking for 7 or 7.5 easy. |

I am happy. Your team just signed a goalie for 8 years at 10.5 mill per. I am happy about that too. It's all good. |

meh whatever.
it's all preference.
I find Marleau to be a better two way player and leader and seems more reliably consistent. To each their own. I'm happy with the move. I really don't care where Radulov goes and I'm glad he isn't coming to Toronto. No hate to who signs him. |

Oh frack is that what he's asking for b'y?
That's... a bit much.
Hey I'm no Cherry, but there are very few Russians in the league (*cough* Ovi) that can ask for that kind of term.
I'm not saying it's right, but it is what it is. |

Yeah, Radulov obviously is younger, and was great at Sochi, but this is still a North American dominated league.
If his name was Radison and he was from Red Deer, he'd be playing on Matthews' wing in October. |

Clearly at Marleau's age they didn't say to him we hope to win a few rounds a season or two from now. They must be saying they have shots at the Cup starting now. |

I love this Marleau signing
It means JVR or another winger or Bozak are on the way out. It locks up a top 9 vet that can score, for a few years. If he poops the bed Lou makes him evaporate.
The only way this makes no sense is if the aforementioned players aren't moved but with a hole in the top 4 D it seems obvious. |
