The structure of the deal makes the third year look kind of circumventy. On the other hand he is a durable player. There's no saying he can't contribute for three more years anyway. I'm not worried about three year deals as much as seven or eight year ones.
I'm looking forward to seeing what he does with Matthews and Nylander in a big way. - Zezel
Would we keep jvr and trade a prospect and or a pick to devils along with a bad contract lupul or someone else then give jvr an extension 6 years 6.25 and keep him. Penguins won playoffs with average defence no letang? What do you guys think? Bad idea? Good morning by the way |

Yeah, that would be Kaptaan (or krapstaain if you prefer).
And yeah, that Price contract... No doubt he's worth it now, but when he's 37....? - lumlums
Oh yeah, Kaptaan. Dude's in my location for Christ's sake |

Can't recall who you're talking about.
As for Price's contract... god.... it IS alot of money, at least 1M more per year than I had hoped.
This being said, when you consider all the factors thrown in: Quebec Taxes, handling Price as an asset you can't lose for nothing or trade for a fraction of his actual worth next season and his importance to the team.... it's pretty much what he's worth.
So now the Habs will need to work around that contract, it's a challenge but I never thought overpaying for superstar players was the problem, it's the 4M for a third liner contracts that kills you (YES I'M TALKING ABOUT YOU, ANDREW SHAW!).
And for what it's worth, I'm glad to know that for the next 8 years, the Habs won't be an easy team to beat... if only because beating Price, in itself, is never easy. - Scabeh What a piece of hot garbage that guy is
Bowman fleeced you guys on that one. What was that, two 2nds (asking genuinely)? |

I knew it the day it happened.
Giving away 2 2nd rounders was bad enough.
You give the guy a 4.1M contract for 6 years?
(frank).
It's definetely the worst contract on the team.
And that's saying something. |

What I don't like, from the Leafs point of view, is that, so far, they still haven't taken care of their most glaring need on defense and have invested considerable money in another forward.
You gotta think a trade is bound to happen. - Scabeh
I think they really particularly like Marleau and couldn't pass it up, and D upgrades remain in progress. They have the space and money, and they figured out against the Caps they have as much a shot as anyone at this point. |

Depth scoring and more transitional defense!

Yup.
They'll all plead poverty and still keep giving out 8 year, $60m+ contracts like candy. |

Say Adam, what's your take on Alzner?
I liked him before, smooth skater that can play physical with a decent first pass... but haven't seen much of him last season and there have been reports of him sucking balls.
I'm tempted to like him on the Habs next to Petry, especially since he got considerably less than I thought he would.
What do you think? |

Yeah, that's the real kick to the nuts.
Trying to think of our worst contract now that Hayes is gone. Backes is overpaid, but I wouldn't necessarily say he's a bad contract. |

Nope. The hope would be trading uncle Leo. As good as he is defensively, slotting in Hyman for him makes more sense.
Let's call the caps, see if we can't get a first... |

Is this Agostino guy going to be the Bruins' next Seth Griffith? I only ask because he puts up great numbers in the A, but I've never seen him play and figured someone in here has. |

Yeah...I like Komagod but he's the kind of guy you rotate out to keep your star skill players under the cap, let someone else do the job cheaper. I'd rather keep JVR. |
