Exactly. A solid goalie who gets hot in the playoffs is better then a 10.5 million goalie that is constantly relied upon for his teams success. I would much rather have Freddy at his cap hit that allows us to sign MAtthews, Marner and Nylander. I realise the Habs dont have those type players, but it seems they are in limbo and will remain there. Making the playoffs, perhaps winning a round (on the back of Price), but never getting any young franchise players...

Doubt it with Franson, but JVR plus for a d-man looks like what they are trying to do now. After that there's a chance they sign Marleau.

Not the worst idea ever, as we're not gonna afford 6-6.5 for JVR.
Kinda wanna see more of Carrick this season, perhaps with Hainsey, but I'm sure any team moving a Dman would want someone like him thrown in.
One thing I like about Marleau is his lack of injury history. He may be a bit soft but so is JVR and if it's 2/4.5per or 3/4per I'm confident he'll do fine, especially since he won't be relied upon to be the go-to-guy. |
